No, there is no animation.

I have the clear case myself and I don’t get that wallet animation like I do with my silicone case. It’s a software bug that is only present with the clear case

I have the California poppy leather wallet for 2 weeks and used it with my 12 Mini for the first time yesterday and I am extremely disappointed.

Quality is good. No question. Feels very stiff but nice. But wearing it is a joke, not only with 12 Pro and Max, also with the Mini. I own the 12 Mini and use it naked just with some kind of TPU film sheet protector on the back. Like a screen protector made of very thin TPU, but for the back. It is a non glass protector, very thin, those you could buy before glass protectors conquered the market. It is made of high quality. So I don't know if it has something to do with this protector but the wallet slides back and forth, even on the Mini which is the same width. Not secure at all. Like shown with the bigger iPhones in reviews. It doesn't hold. Unfortunately after seeing this and Macsafe charger reviews I don't believe there will ever be a battery pack clip on without a whole case. It would never hold.

Then there is the color. I know it would get dirty sometime because California poppy is a lighter color, but this is just ridiculous. Wore it in my pants for an hour, no problem. Then packed it in my luggage in a small outer case/pouch with nothing else in it and it got 4 dark points all over the front, the back is clean though. There was nothing in this outer plastic pouch of my trolley. If it gets 4 big spots from nothing, what would you do using a jeans etc. I once owned a light yellow apple leather case, after using it a long time there was almost no dirt, just from my own fault, a pen mark. Otherwise it was perfectly fine showing almost no usage after 6 months, just some wear.

I will send it back with a letter. Unfortunately you can't write something with your return request.

VERY DISAPPOINTED. The spots are really a joke but more than that is the magnet. I guess it can't be strong because of the cards getting erased. But who needs a wallet which doesn't fit secure? The idea imo is great but the implementation ist bad.

Is there something similar which does fit securely? I also do wear an Mini wallet, half the size of a card. It fits everything, but I wanted something secure connected to my phone. I know there are wallet cases. But as caseless user this would mean to put the case on and off everytime when traveling. Unfortunately in my country there is still a lot left to be desired when it comes to digital wallet. I have some cards in Apple Wallet, but no money card can be put there, no ID etc. Mostly credit cards from quite a lot of banks here and frequent flyer cards and also some bonus cards. But a lot need to be carried with, no digital wallet support.

I have read here a lot of users are happy with Mini and wallet and it fits very good. I don't even use a case and it slides around like in many videos. Do you guys only use it with cases? Maybe there is a quality differences? How can it be it fits secure on one phone and slides around on another?

I find the magnet quite strong and attaches really well to my 12 pro. I have no marks in my wallet after a week of use but that’s because I treated it with leather cream which helps to protect it from getting marked

I'm a big fan of thin small wallets, and minimal EDC. Even though I use Apple Pay mostly I still like to carry my bank card, credit card, driving license. I've been using a Secrid wallet for the last couple of years, which are quite expensive £50 for a leather version, cheaper if you want the card holder, so personally I think £59 for a good quality wallet is fine with me.

I've been using the Apple Wallet for about a month and for my day to day needs it's perfect, I wouldn't go back to different wallet now, it's thin, light, well made and mean I can only carry the cards I need.

I put double sides adhesive tape on the wallet to make sure it is not coming off :D. I need my ID and health insurance card so little, that I do not really have to remove it that often (if ever). Just nice to be able to carry it around, in case I might need it.

How do you get the wallet off to remove your cards out when it is sticky taped on?

I would use micro suction tape instead. For carrying 1 or 2 cards the wallet is fine as long as you dont attach to the phone.

Question: when you use the “thumb pusher” does it push all the cards up or just one? Is it easy to get the middle card out? And what about cash? Thanks.

I dont use mine for cash. When I push up on the ”pusher” all my (3) cards slide up at once. My grocery still needs a card so I have been popping the wallet off and on without removing the phone from my pocket. At night I pop the wallet off and leave it in my pocket so I can charge the phone. More than you asked but I find the wallet super easy to work with.

I have two cards and a $20 bill in my wallet. When I push the cards up, both cards come up together but the cash does not. If the cash is what's showing through the pusher instead of a card, then the cash will come up when I push, but the cards won't.

I just make sure the edge of the cash bill is pretty much flush with the top of the cards so I can pull it up with my fingernail after I slide the cards up.

Not to high Jack but just a quick question. I’m totally stupid and had no idea they had magnet phone cases although it makes total sense....lol. Are these cases strong enough to keep your phone secure on a car magnet mount while driving??
Yes i use an old magnetic CD mount mount with the magsafe charger attached to it!

i love this new wallet, always been one for minimalistic carry

Do you use a case or naked iPhone? I bought an off brand one from amazon, and unsurprisingly it sucked... I don’t use a case on my iPhone (which the MagSafe cases do seem to be stronger than the MagSafe on the phone), so Im wondering how well the apple brand one sticks to a naked phone.

I love the strength of my Anker magsafe charger sticking to my phone, I was hoping the apple wallet it similar, but don’t want to make that investment to simply test it out.

My concerns: putting the phone into and out of jeans (not loose pockets) and when I go running, I usually grip my phone on the sides, putting no pressure on the back, and wonder if the force of running at top speed would actually cause the wallet to slip off.

Does anyone know if Apple stores have this as an open sample to test on a phone?

I use Apple leather cases. It’s sticks really well and it sticks even better if the phone is naked

Do you have an animation issue with the wallet stacked on a official magsafe case? I have a black wallet and with bare iphone, the animation pops up when screen is off. Animation also happens with the official clear case or leather case. However with the official clear case loaded, if I put the wallet, I get no animation, no chime and only chimes when the wallet is taken off the clear case. Magsafe charger stacked on clear case works well and has the animation as well. Does that no animation bug when the wallet is stacked with the official clear/leather case happen to you?

Did you ever figure out how to fix this? I just bought a Like New from Amazon, and it's doing exactly what yours was or is. Thanks!

It was the same issue unfortunately even today. Apple Feedback is also silent on this as this bug is incredibly low in their bugfix list

Knock off cheap 3 card wallet... and I love it! I have the apple silicone Under it. We’ll see how it holds up. Maybe if it breaks down, the real thing will finally be on sale.

@minnemike , how is your cheap 3 card wallet holding up? And can you tell me which exact product you're using or others you considered? I can't stomach paying $50+ for the real thing at this time.

Still holding up perfectly. I store 2 CC and one license and a hundo bill

I’m starting to fall out of love with mine. It’s convenient if you’re bringing just a couple cards you need, but since it can’t hold everything you need to bring another wallet with you anyway. And if I’m going to have another wallet with me anyway, I’d prefer a more minimalistic and less bulky phone.

THat's why I went with the 12 mini. ;)

I havent ditched my old wallet though. It's still there whenever I need it. It's really about options.

Obviously everybody's different but for a lot of people, me included, two or three cards is all that's needed. In my wallet I have a debit card, a credit card and my driver's license. Outside of that I have a second wallet that lives in my car containing a few membership cards, dental insurance cards, some cash, etc. Stuff I may need at some point but not often enough to be carried everywhere I go.

It took me a minute to buy into the idea but I'm really happy with the results. Before, that secondary wallet in the car was my only wallet. It always stayed in my car because mostly any time I'd be leaving the house to go somewhere I might need it, I'd be driving. Mostly wasn't all though so there were times I found myself in a situation where I had to make due with Apple Pay and if that wasn't an option, going back for my wallet. Since getting the Apple Wallet there hasn't been a single instance that I've needed something I didn't have handy.

Hopefully in the future acceptance of Apple Pay will be universal and the Apple Wallet will fall into backup status. We're headed in the right direction with the news that we'll be able to use Wallet on iPhone to store ID (driver's license) in the near future.

I’ve considered going the same route as you, but I just can’t bring myself to leave important insurance cards in my car.
