I will just come back to this comment once more. I own a furniture building and repair business here. I work with leather regularly building chairs and other such items. The local furniture box stores use me to repair damaged products.

I also have experience working with leather and pleather eventually. Surprise!
And don´t forget to claim against Apple for scamming us!

I had this issue back in December when I noticed mine peeling as well. I discovered the issue. Basically when I placed the wallet on my naked phone, the sides would melt due to the heat coming from the phone. At that point is when I noticed the sides to be sticky. As soon as I put my case back on, the melting stopped. I call this “walletgate” lol. I’m using an iPhone mini btw

Noticed it on the corner of mine, too (had it since December) I wonder if some of this hot weather has also softened it some. I was able to "knead" it back into shape with two cards, but it's still kind of soft and I'm debating about taking it in.

Has anyone had success going to an Apple Store about this?

Got mine in march, just started having this issue now. Slowly peeling off on both sides, probably going to contact Apple support soon when I have some free time.

We don't exactly have apple store or support here so I took a risk and ran the edges with exacto knife to get the rubber off and then polished it a little with a fine sandpaper. Looks much better and does not seem to impact usage or integrity

Having the same issue with my gen 2 MagSafe wallet. Anyone have luck getting Apple to replace theirs?

The top edge of the outer side of the pocket has peeled off on mine but the sides of it are still intact.

I spoke too soon. Noticed the corner peeling today and I hadn’t noticed it in the previous picture. Knowing me I’m going to cave in and peel it off because it bothers me so much 😂
