This seems to happen with with "Show Previews" set to either Always or When Unlocked...

I get a mail notification, and I pick up the phone and look at the phone. I will see the notifications reveal themselves, and then immediately disappear (as if I dismissed them).

Anyone else noticing this?

Only happens for Mail notifications... the others stay on the screen. Deleted all my mail accounts and re-added them, with similar results.

EDIT: Workaround in Post #9

Happened to me on my 6S - if I had message and mail notifications on the lock screen and I touched the home button just to unlock, the mail notifications would vanish but the other ones would stay there and let me interact with them! Very annoying.

Well crap... that's unacceptable.

Did you update to iOS11.1?

It’s suppose to stay till you swipe!

Yes, 11.1. It does not stay.

Edit: I just got another email message, and it was the only notification on the screen. Picked up the phone and the notification vanishes.

Then you swipe down on top left and you will get to them.

No, it actually vanishes and no longer exists in notification center either.

I am having the same issue. Email Notifications disappear once Face ID authenticates on the lock screen. Anyone find a solution to this?

I think I figured it out... see if this fixes it for you as well:
Settings > Notifications > Mail

For each account, I unchecked "Show in History"

Let me know if that fixes it for you too. I'll report it as a bug on Monday when I get a chance.

Seems like that toggle behavior is acting like the reverse of what it's supposed to... and only for mail.

YES! This fixed it. Definitely a bug. Now it doesn’t disappear but won’t show emails in history.... :(
Thank you for your response!

Thanks for posting your issue, I thought I was going nuts! Trying the workaround mentioned above and will report back. Thanks!

I also reported it. Amazing this was missed
Maybe nobody uses mail notifications at Apple. Mail notifications are the only thing that are defaulted to Off when you add a new mail account. Everything else has notifications on by default.

Interesting. Didn’t know that about the mail notification being off by default. Maybe Apple is not fond of knowing when emails arrive! ;)

My bug was just marked as a dupe of bug #35398191 ... so they're definitely aware of it. Let's hope it's an 11.1.1 and not an 11.2 fix.
