This is strange. Today when I booted my Mac Pro, my system harddrive is not showing on the desktop or in the file structure. Everything is working fine, I just can't access my HD directly from the finder. In Disk Utility I can see the "mount point" is simply "/", is this normal or is something screwed up? Anyway, if someone knows how to get my HD back, it would be great.

Check Finder->Preferences General.

"Show these items on the Desktop:"

See if "Hard disks" is checked.

Hope this helps.

edit: mount point "/" is correct

My other two HD's are showing so this is not the problem. Also, the Mac HD is not showing in the device list on the left of finder windows.

Hummmm...

Have you tried "Repair Disk Permissions" in Disk Utility?

As for sidebar, there's a preference for what's displayed in Finder->Preferences "Sidebar". Try un-checking, then re-checking the "Hard disks" option.

Yes, repairing disk permissions didn't fix it - neither did uncheck/checking the HD show setting.
