Problem with WoW on the Mac is that there is literally no Mac development team... meaning support is abysmal at best. Just read the comments about alpha and beta of Dragon Flight on the Mac and you will clearly see that the Mac version is absolutely bottom on their list to deal with.

The game may run... but if there are issues, they may or may not get fixed. If you don't mind paying a subscription to a game that plays sub-optimally to its PC counterpart due to lack of developer support... all the power to you.

You really are getting a sub-standard product in every sense of the term.
Yeah for the alpha and beta there is not much support, but I haven’t run into issues with the production version at all in the end that is what matters the most.

The metal and Apple Silicon versions were done with help from Apple.

If there’s no Mac development team working on WoW, then who did the optimization for Apple Silicon? Who made it work with Metal, before that?

Agree with Irishman that there must be some people working on the Mac versions. Who's otherwise porting the DLC? The alpha and beta may have lower priority on Mac but it's the end product that matters. As usual they probably will fix the pc version first and then get to the Mac. Don't judge the book by its alpha/beta cover yet! :)

Yeah the PTR version is running fine and is near to release for the big v10 patch and has actually some good performance improvements for the Apple Silicon version. The latest Beta build for DF seems to be runner a lot smoother finally though now they seem prioritise the Apple silicon above the Intel version for Mac.

So would Metal 3 run on Mac with Radeon 580 as developer preview stated only 5600 and up?
Or it’s just about raytracing features

Prodeus is out of early access and is Apple Silicon native. A poster on reddit shared a gameplay video using his 16-inch M1 Max. We don't get many quality FPS games on Mac, so this is good to see.

Saw it's out of early access but the system requirements on Steam don't say much. Don't like the pixelated style but looks like a fun retro FPS like Doom. Nice it has native support too. :)

There's actually a couple of FPSs coming up. There's the aforementioned Prodeus, and Izonzo's to get a Mac version as part of the first major update.

On the strategy side, Terra Invictis has a Mac port being worked on.

So No Mans Sky for the switch drops on friday, has there been any word at all on the macOS release?

The day has finally arrived. RE Village will be released next week on Oct 28. Apple presented it at the RE Showcase and the game page has been updated. The downside is that the game will be on MAS only.

Why is that a downside?

I think it's pretty obvious that many prefer Steam. It's been discussed before that MAS has its limitations and the prices on MAS vs Steam is always an important factor. Maybe it will be time exclusive and released on Steam later. I saw that Grid Legends has Steam Depots despite being MAS exclusive.

I imagine if Apple is giving money/help to the developer for the Mac port they are going to want some sort of kickback to make it worth their while.

I did a little bit of homework on Jeremy yesterday night. He's got a lot of GPU and graphics related patents for Apple, and was also at WWDC 2014 showing off Metal for iOS.

I really hope this game does well (especially on macOS) because the Modern Warfare 2 hypetrain is going to drown it out.

I looked him up and yes, he has some patents. He was also one of the programmers for Descent 2. He and Aaftab Munshi were also veterans in GPU and software engineering at ATI before they joined Apple around 2007 when iPhone was introduced. They also started working on GPU acceleration in MacOS back then so he knows his stuff now working on Metal 3.

So any word on No Mans Sky? I thought it was supposed to be out around the same time Ventura dropped.

There's been mention of the upcoming Mac release of NMS on Twitter a fair few times, but no release datee, and no real info. Haven't even gotten a reply from Hello Games when I emailed them.

RE Village is out on App Store now. The euro price is 47,99€. It would have been 39,99€ were it not for the recent app store price increase. It's still 39,99€ on Steam though. If the Mac version was on Steam I would have bought it (it's even on sale right now)

Interesting review. Looking forward to seeing Max/Ultra results at higher quality settings. A bit of a shame on the IQ drop for MetalFX though.
I bought it and I am surprised I cant enable raytracing on the M1 Mac.

I should say for who is the option?
Amd GPUs? They however just list Apple silicon machines as supported 🤷‍♂️

I am on Ventura so it is not that.

I'm not terribly surprised. No HWRT on Apple GPU's so why include that feature on a game that only runs on that hardware?

EDIT: is the option present but greyed out?
