Well, I have been trying to be patient while waiting to hear if the iKonic Edge replacements have been improved to everyone's liking. While I've been waiting, I've continued my search for a leather sleeve/pouch for my iPhone 5.

Here are two that I am considering as well. Anyone have either of these and would like to comment?

These are wallet/card based so kind of tough to compare unless we are talking materials. But I really like the brussardo one.

Received confirmation that my replacement case has been sent so hopefully should be with me with 10 days or so. Will update upon receipt.

That's great news King Julian. I am anxiously awaiting to hear your impressions of the updated case.

Out of curiosity, is yours the super slim classic or the super slim card?

New sleeve Arrived

Well my new iKonic Edge iPhone 5 pouch was duly dispatched after the first pouch I received was disappointing, too wide, too large and lets call it a prototype.

iKonic Edge noted my concerns and sent a new pouch out which arrived within I week of posting. So well done to them.

Anyway that's history, the new pouch is what I and you would expect.

For those that don't know this company the pouches are made from New Zealand serge fine grain leather, which is so soft and smells good enough to eat( you know the fresh bread and muffin aroma). Now based on my previous experience this leather just gets better with age, like a fine Vintage Champagne.

Internally there is a fine micro suede materiel which protects the iPhone and assist in the sliding out of the phone by gently squeezing the bottom of the pouch.

Now this pouch is super slim, all the stitching has been turned inside, unlike most leather cases on the market, so basically the pouch is the same size as the iPhone, giving it a minimalistic look.

So if you are looking for a super slim, fine grade leather pouch at $45 this is a product worthy of a look at.

Hello King Julian,

Thank you for posting your findings of the newly redone iKonic Edge iPhone pouch as well as sharing your photos with us. I'm happy that they listened to you and others and made the appropriate changes that were needed.

You have written your report so well that they should offer you a job in their marketing dept. Very well done!

Thank you for taking the time to share this with us all.

Same issue

I got my Ikonic Edge pouch about 3 weeks ago & have same issue with extra length. The fit is nice and snug for the phone, just a little extra leather over the top. At first it bothered me but I thought I'd give it a go anyways and it has worked out to where I like it fine now.
The leather is a bit thinner than my previous Ikonicedge that I had for my iPhone 4S. That does still bother me but I am getting used to that as well.
Gave my old pouch to my wife as she has been trying to steal it since I got it, (she has an iPod 4).

I got my replacement and this one definitely fits more snug but the length is still an issue. It's disappointing to see that these guys can't get it right anymore. Time to jump back to Sena.

Ikonic Edge - The sizing issue has already been recified

Hi all - just an update regarding this sizing issue. Ikonic Edge takes the quality of our product very seriously and only wants our customers to have the very best for their iPhone. Earlier on a very small number of over-sized (width & height) development units were inadvertently sent to market. Please note we design the pouches to be just a little taller than the iPhone itself. The extra length helps protect the top of the phone and overtime the length can shrink slightly so this takes that into account.
I hope this explains some of the concerns on this board.

Regards

The Ikonic Edge Team

Great to see the Ikonic Edge team acknowledge the concerns raised within this forum.

Like I said, I did have issues with my initial case, I raised my concerns to Ikonic Edge who duly sent a replacement and I am happy out.

Just on the case which I have had a couple of weeks, at first the leather felt different to the previous iPhone 4 case, but now after using my new iPhone 5 case the leather is maturing very nicely, real soft and gaining great texture.

It's been over a month since IE said they would replace my case. To date, I've still not received anything. They claim they sent a replacement, at now over a month, still nothing here. They say it can take six weeks to the United States. My original case from them took less than a week.

I'd never order anything from them again, and I own and always recommended the IP 4 case from them. They don't have it together this time. I'm going to have to have a talk with my credit card company.

If you want this style of case, I'd order from Sena or Knomo.

I ordered the Ikonic Edge slim pouch (tan) on 5th Sept, got mine on 20th.

It has pretty tight fit during the first few days of use but nowadays I have no issue removing my iPhone from the case anymore.

Lovely pouch. love the texture, the soft feel, and also the smell of it. :D

I have a 3GS and an Ikonic Edge pouch and it is absolutely brilliant. Quality in every way, the leather was strong and supple, excellent finish and fitted the phone perfectly. Even after a few years of hard use it looked the business. It was a tad expensive, but worth every penny.

Obviously now I have my iPhone 5 it was a no-brainer that I would buy an Ikonic Edge pouch for it.

Then I saw this and other threads on different forums which raised questions. So I waited until I saw some posts that the size issue was resolved - then placed my order. A bit sad I know, but I was really looking forward to receiving it as I had missed the professional look and feel of the phone in the pouch. It’s not often a product is just right.

Anyway, the Ikonic Edge iPhone 5 pouch arrived a couple of days ago and I am soooo disappointed - it fails on just about every level, look, feel, quality and fit. What have they done? They appear to have ruined an excellent product.

The new pouch feels like it is made of cheap PU leather and from the runt at that. The speaker holes have not been punched properly and size is dubious. The stitching is all over the place with a bulge on the bottom which makes it look like the pouch has a hernia. Even Ikonic Edge is unconvinced, as the brand imprint is so faint as to be most unreadable.

The 3GS pouch definitely has thicker leather than the 5 and is much better made.

I put the old Ikonic Edge 3GS pouch and the brand new Ikonic Edge 5 pouch next to each other and there is no comparison – the 3GS is quality, the 5 is not.

Sadly I think this will be going back for a refund.

Hi,

I've been a big fan of their simple pouch, having owned two. Just got the iPhone 5 version and it has a major problem. It's about 1/2 inch too long, and has a very sloppy loose fit. My other two were nice and snug, and the fit was perfect. See the attached photos to see what I mean.

I contacted the company who essentially said, send it back, we'll try to find one that fits. You pay to send it back to New Zealand. This is a $45 case. I asked if they are all this way, or did I get a bad one, and they wont respond.

I'd say stay away from these guys until they get things sorted out. I'm majorly disappointed in Ikonic Edge as they used to have great quality and customer service. I guess I'll have to try Sena.

That looks like a 4/4s.???

I too have had iKonic Edge pouches since I had my 3GS.

I got one for my iPhone 5 (I'd pre ordered it so got the first released batch).

Mine was too long and very loose, basically its that lose it would fall out when its placed upside down. I contacted the manufacturer and they said send it back, but this would have cost me a fair amount as I'm in the UK, so I kept it.

A couple of months later, I ordered the same pouch for my girlfriend and hers is fine. For a few weeks her pouch was extremely tight, but now its perfect.

I'm going to wait till I get the 5S (or whatever its called) and then I'll replace the pouch with the Sena Ultraslim Classic. I don't want to pre order another Ikonic Edge one after the issues with the early orders for the iPhone 5 pouches. Its put me off them, which is a pity, has I was always impressed with the quality of their pouches until I got my iPhone 5 pouch.

My Ikonic Edge fits like a glove

I received one of their brown leather pouches for the iPhone5 with the credit card slot holder two weeks ago and I'm more than happy, it fits like a glove.

I did have a Sena pouch for my iPhone4 and it only lasted 3 months before it came apart at the seams, I presume Sena is made in China as they don't state where their products are made, whereas Ikonic Edge is made in New Zealand. I also realised that the Sena leather is either a half leather or a low grade leather as you can't smell the leather but can with the ikonic edge.

I read there was only a very small number initially that were released last year that were a bit loose so I didn't let that put me off as that issue was resolved long ago.

I think its safe to assume that the sizing has been sorted out now.

All I know is that its put me off them, and I have bought them since the 3GS days.

The thing I can't understand is how some development units were inadvertently sent to market in the first place.

I would have been happy to send mine back to have it replaced, but I was not willing to pay the expensive postage costs from the UK to New Zealand to return the pouch and also be without a pouch for a number of weeks until Ikonic Edge received the faulty one and sent out a replacement.

Ikonic Edge have admitted a oversize issue on early units, and should have (providing you can supply them with a picture of the pouch showing the oversize) sent out a replacement and returns address label for which to use to return the oversized pouch. This would have been the best way to deal with this issue. Seems a bit much expecting people to pay the returns postage costs for an unsuitable pouch when it isn't the customers fault in the first place.

Same thing happened to me with some dodgy stitching, they wouldn't send me a new one they wanted mine back first at my cost which would of taken 2 weeks. Already waited 2 weeks. Got it fixed locally. Never again.

I just ordered the dark brown for IP5. I will let everyone know how it fits when I receive..

I've just ordered the Sena Ultra Slim Classic for my iPhone 5 and my 5S when I get one.

I have always bought from Ikonic Edge going back to the 3GS days. But I have been put off by the poor fit of my current one and also the poor customer service they provide when they expect you to send a faulty product back from the UK to New Zealand at your own expense, even when it isn't your fault in the first place.

A much better way to have dealt with the issue would have been for the customer to provide a picture showing the oversize. Once they had seen the picture, then they should have sent out another pouch and provided a pre paid envelope for to send the other one back in.

In fairness though the oversize issues of the early pouches have been sorted out apparently.

I received my super-slim pouch on Saturday 9/21.. It fits perfectly snug with only a minimal amount of extra length. Also the shipping was much faster than I expected, it arrived in Southern California in only 5 days after it shipped.. I am completely satisfied and will be ordering from again in the future.

Hey King Julian, how long did it take for Ikonic to get back to you after you initially complained? I have email on the same day of receiving the case (which was too long) and after sending a follow up email, I have heard nothing back.

It's very annoying, I have used Ikonic over the years and even though the last one was too thin and messed with the volume buttons its a small grip and overall I was very happy with them. It's not massively impressive I haven't received an acknowledgment at least, maybe I'm being impatient.
