Major Security Flaw in 2.0.2

here we go, pics. I'll try to see if I can get proof of any kind about the TUAW and MR submissions, but dont see how I'll be able to other than contacting the site admins, but if anyone has a suggestion, i'm all ears.

EDIT: again, this isnt a huge deal for me. the info is out there, and thats all that matters. but I don't like plagiarism.

Ok so I logged into your Apple account and took these??!?!?!

OK so you "found" it first but I had also found it yesterday and decided to post about it so whats the big deal?

You have yet to supply proof that greenmymac actually stole this from this other guy, he simply could have found it out himself too. In which case he did find it out himself, and just started a thread before any sites posted stories on it by your friend's reports.

Now would you please mind giving us proof that greenmymac stole this info?

And those most recent images are not proof of plagiarism, just somebody with a big ego who is paranoid about people "stealing his findings" when they simply found out the same thing at the same time.

Uh, that would make sense if you didn't change like 3 words in the message and remove a friggen colon. It's word for word, there's no damn way you could've 'coincidentally' written a message almost EXACTLY like his.

its not word for word I legitimately found this on my own and posted this thread with as much detail and with ease so people could reproduce

the big deal, I'm afraid, is that your post is IDENTICAL to my Macrumors, TUAW, and ADC submissions.

Once again, I dont care "who discovered it first." I'm a little ticked that you stole my WORDS, and called them your own.
 
I sense major drama over not a whole lot.

The only way you could prove it is if you reproduced the text in the OP.

Then even if you did, all it would do is show the OP is a douche. If it were true. It would be forgotten in a couple of days.

Is it really that important, to either of you, to be the 'first'?

Yes there is a chance that he could have done that by coincidence, it is describing steps of producing a problem which is pretty much the same no matter how you look at it.

Not word for word? You're right, you removed the numbers and changed "tap" to "access" in one instance. Other than that, it is character for character IDENTICAL!

Sensitive data can be accessed when passcode lock is enabled.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set iPhone to use passcode lock, have contacts marked as Favourites with links, phone numbers, addresses, etc in address book entry.

2. Access "Emergency Call" keypad from passcode entry screen.

3. Double-tap home button.

4. Press blue arrow next to contact's name. You now have full access to applications such as Safari, complete Contacts list, SMS, Maps, "full" Phone access, and Mail by accessing various entries on the Favourite's page, i.e. tapping their home page brings up a full, unrestricted Safari.

And 'your' post, with what's word for word highlighted:

"2.0.2 gives almost full access to the iPhone even while under password protection...

Steps to Reproduce

EXACTLY the same! That's WORD for WORD. They even have the same capitalization and typos! He COPIED HIM somehow, we don't know how, but we know that he did it!

Even the capitalization is the same! THERE IS NO WAY you could've done this coincidentally! You're caught red handed! Everything is the same! You changed 'press' and 'access' to tap, and you removed the numbers and a colon.

You copied him, it's not THAT big of a deal, but just admit it, you plagiarized what he wrote, and never gave him credit until you were caught!

Do we really need to? He got it somehow, it's word for word, he could work for TUAW or MR or even APPLE, how can you even possibly FATHOM that he did this coincidentally? The capitalization, typos, spaces, punctuation- it's all EXACTLY the same! That's not a damn coincidence and you know it!

Except you still don't have proof that this is anything more than a coincidence, all you have is allegations that have no proof behind them. You have no connection between your friend's writing and the original post in this thread. And if he was going to copy it, why would he bother changing those small bits? Chill out dude.
 
I have no idea how greenmymac could have gotten ahold of the submission. Does he have any affiliation with TUAW or MacRumors that might give him access to news submissions? I don't know, and I wish I didn't have to cause drama over this. I'm not disputing that it's possible that we both discovered it on the same night. But I think the coincidence with the wording is MUCH too great to ignore. Honestly, I'm willing to just let it drop. But not if I'm being accused of trying to steal credit or of making false claims.

He would change those 'small bits' so he could claim exactly what he's claiming right now if he ever got caught, how is that not obvious to you?

Yes, you do, figuring that this writing was not publicly available online until this post, and nobody at Apple would risk their job over it, he would not have access to it here (only gods and arn do), and I highly doubt that he is over at TUAW.

Also, I know the first box says "Read Only", but the text box could be editable, but it just won't let you save any changes. If the box is changeable, all it proves is that Adam ******** posted something titled "iPhone 2.0.2 Lock Screen Security Problem" on the 26th. So he may have found it first, then decided to discredit greenmymac by changing his posts to have the same wording.

Or, the box can't be changed and we can get back to you guys having a screaming match...
