One Last Question...

The instructions look simple enough and I know where my installer file is BUT when I am finished can I just finish my install as I normally would by just opening up the Lion Installation app?

from flash drive

The instructions are all good for people that have downloaded 10.7. However, I was given the Apple 10.7 flash drive (as they're not doing DVD's anymore). There is no InstallESD.dmg. when I show package content, I can find a unix exe called Install Mac OS X Lion, but not dmg files.
Any ideas to burn a bootable DVD? I created a .dmg and I was able to upgrade from using that, but when I try to burn a DVD in Toast with COPY>IMAGE FILE, the size says it will be about 25GB (.dmg file is actually 3.9GB).

If you have the flash drive then you don't need to follow those instructions; reboot holding down the option key and then boot off the thumb drive.

Yes, I know how to boot from a flash drive. I'm asking how to make a bootable DVD from the flash drive. Flash drives are erasable/writable and I want a backup DVD to use as the work/testing DVD since I run software testing for audio companies and have seen people click erase on the wrong drive before, so having/making a bootable DVD is important to me.

Thank you

Thanks for the useful how-to! Does anybody know if it's legal to make the disc after all?

Okay. Another question: Is it legal to install Lion from that thumb drive on any mac?

http://www.macworld.com/article/161026/2011/07/osx_lion_review.html :

...once you’ve got a Lion installer, you can copy it freely to all the Macs in your house (so long as they’re running the latest version of Snow Leopard) and upgrade them to Lion. Not only is that convenient, but it’s legal: The Lion download license covers all of the Macs in your household...
