"Make my life easier" is back in Cydia

I'd like some more info on this, too. I'm in the same boat - 3GS with a 3.0 SHSH on file ... What about 3.1?

Once 3.1 is jailbroken and you need to restore, you will edit the /etc/hosts file on the computer that is running iTunes and set the IP address of the Apple authentication servers to Saurik's IP address. Then when iTunes goes out to get the signatures for your device ID, Saurik's servers return the stored version.

hi guys...

have a issue i just cant solve by my self. searched over soo many threads but its always somethign that doesnt apply to me which makes the forum not useful in MY case...

now i have a iphone 3gs v3.1.2 (modem firmware: 05.11.07) (with at&t), my little brother used blackrain something to install cydia...

the gps kinda sux, went to apple to exchange..found out they ONLY have 3.1.3 phones left...which is outa the question since its not possible to jailb. the phone with that version.

before i went there i uninstalled cydia (CyDelete), and blackra1n.

NOW I CANT RE-install blackra1n. Think i have to restore the phone first..but that doesnt work since not eligible bla bla .

THE THING IS , when I HAD cydia i clicked at "make my life easier" ..something with SHSH....what IS that ???

So what the heck should i do?
wish i could exchange and get a 3.1.3 phone and jailb but since that wont work..how do i get cydia back on my iphone (v3.1.2) ??

would appreciate a LOT for ya help

I cant get blackra1n to the phone, so I cant even get cydia back.
So how do I restore it through the shsh thingy then ? :/

If i get a at&t iphone 3gs with 3.1.3...

will I be able to downgrade with that to 3.1.2 u think? :/
 
No, it only works with that particular iphone that has its unique SHSH's saved thru cydia. It doesnt work with any iphone that hasnt been jailbroken before and doesnt have its files saved before Apple stopped giving them out.
 
i have a 3gs and i got the "make my life easier" button. Ive never seen this before and ive had a ipod touch jalibroken since installer so im up on my stuff but what is the point of the "make my life easier" button?
 
I need to restore my 3gs to a clean copy of 3.1.2 and selected "make my life easier" in cydia yesterday. When I open cydia, I get the message "this device has a pending TSS request"

I need to restore, jailbreak and unlock this phone by monday as it has been sold. Do I just need to wait for saurik to approve my phone on his servers or can I just move onto step 2 (which is directing itunes to the saurik server to verify my 3.1.2 restore)?

You cant.
The only shsh blob you're going to get now is 4.0.1
You will not be able to restore to anything before that.
Do you have a tethered or untethered JB?
If its pwned/JB with the old bootrom you can restore it to custom 4.0 IPSW created with pwnage and thus restore to fresh JB copy of 4.0 and sell it JB and install ultrasnow thru cydia to unlock.

Your SHSH is not yet stored on Saurik's server. He has a backlog of requests to process; sometime it takes a few days.

You should be aware, however, that it is far too late to get your 3.1.2 SHSH on file. The only SHSH that can currently be retrieved is the 4.0.1 SHSH. That will assure that you will always be able to restore to 4.0.1 and use comex' upcoming jailbreak, but it will not allow you to restore to 3.1.2.

If your phone is currently pwned, however, and you are not stuck in DFU mode, you will be able to restore to a custom 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.1.4 firmware made with PwnageTool. A pwned phone can be restored to a custom firmware without SHSH because it does not perform the signature check.

the 3gs was jailbroken through blackrain (I installed cydia and rock but didnt unlock at that point)

now I am selling the 3gs and I need to restore this thing to factory settings and then jailbreak and unlock it. Currently I'm on 3.1.2 and 05.11.07 baseband.

Is it possible to unlock the phone under any firmware? The jailbreak isnt as critical as the unlock in my situation.


edit: ok I still have the 3gs jailbroken with cydia installed however it still has my info on it (hasnt been restored). I'm looking for the quickest way to unlock it. I just opened up cydia and installed and ran ultrasnow. I am planning on just manually deleting all of the info on the phone. Would this work to at least get the phone functional for use by the buyer?

or is there a better way that I can go about this....thanks for your help everyone.

You cant have the unlock without the JB.
JB first, then unlock by installing ultrasnow thru cydia.
Do you have a tethered JB or not? Can you turn off the iphone and then turn it back on without having to run blackrain each time?

I can turn it off and on again without having to run blackrain each time. I have just installed ultrasnow but without restoring the phone to a fresh 3.1.2 firmware. Can I just use pwnage to create a custom 3.1.2 file, use that to restore, and then jailbreak and unlock using blackrain?

You will not need to jailbreak using blackra1n (in fact, you will not be able to) after restoring to a custom firmware. Custom firmware files are pre-jailbroken; when the phone boots after the restore it will already be jailbroken and Cydia will already be installed. You could unlock using blacksn0w, but I strongly recommend using ultrasn0w 0.93 instead. Blacksn0w caused serious issues for some people, and the latest ultrasn0w has pretty much made it obsolete. Add the repository http://repo666.ultrasn0w.org/ to Cydia and install ultrasn0w. You'll be set.

Everytime I try to mount the 3.1.2 firmware for both the 3G and 3GS that I need to jailbreak and unlock, pwnage tool 4.0.1 keeps telling me no firmware bundle found. FML.

I'm trying to jailbreak and unlock both a 3g and 3gs using pwnage. Pwnage 4.0.1 doesnt even have 3G listed, only iPod Touch 2G and 3GS.

Oh and now I'm getting the "wrong firmware bundle selected" error for all firmwares that I try to create custom files for.

This stuff used to be much easier for me.....now either its harder or I'm more retarded than before.
