Do you think the iPhone 6S will get a microLED display? READ THE POST FIRST

I need badly to update my phone this year, I'm still rocking a iPhone 4 and it's really struggling with Ingress at this point. Will wait for the event to see if I'll get a Z5c or the iPhone 6s. But I'm kind of bummed the 6s won't get an upgraded display as that will bug me when iPhones 7 drops, assuming they might introduce OLED or mLED then. The thing is I simply can't justify upgrading once a year with the current prices of smartphones. What are you guys using and what are your upgrade plans?

The OLED/mLED rumor sounded too good to be true. Is there any chance that Apple could at least increase the resolution of the 6S Plus? The downsampling from 2208 × 1242 to 1920 × 1080 isn't really an elegant solution (higher gpu usage/potential lag).

I plan on selling my current iPhone 6 and going onto AT&T Next 12, put the money from selling the iPhone 6 towards an iPhone 6s along with paying off the 12 months of Next payments right off the bat so I don't have to worry about them and then upgrading to the 7 next year.

Yup, Mark Gurman seemingly killed the rumor this morning too.

"We’re told that the new wallpapers look “great,” despite not being lit up by an OLED display"

http://9to5mac.com/2015/09/04/apple-sep-9-iphone-6s-ipad-pro-apple-tv-watch/

So the animated wallpapers are said to look "great", but if it's the same IPS LCD that the 6 has, wouldn't that statement conflict with what Jony said? Also how could Apple justify making it exclusive to the 6s when the 6 could easily run these animated wallpapers? Unless, it's a "timed exlusive" which iPhone 6/5s owners will get after 3 or 4 months. I'm thinking about what some developers do with games. I don't believe Apple would do something that low, but you never know. Anyway, something doesn't seem right.

Perhaps not all the animated wallpapers will be against a black background; perhaps the fish for example will be against a white background which will still work very well with LCD

I do agree with you on the animated wallpapers exclusive to the 6S - if the display stays LCD, there is little room for the animated wallpapers to be exclusive to the 6S. I am expecting the 6S to be a nice jump in power over the 6/5s, but the 6 and 5s are no slouches either in the processor department. Further, if the Apple Watch has the horsepower to run a similar style of animated wallpapers, then even the A5 devices would be capable spec-wise to run them; all iOS 9 devices should be able to run them.

May I ask what the monthly cost is and what data plan it includes?

Well I plan on getting the 64GB iPhone 6s Plus so I think the monthly payments will be around $40/month. I'm on a 15GB Mobile Share Value plan with my family.

I want to believe Apple did away with backlighting and went AMOLED or microLED. Also, if it has normal LCD, the movement of the glass panel when touching it will make that area brighter since it's closer to the backlight.

Lastly, Apple's own 3D render of the 3D touch tech doesn't show a backlight which should be a confirmation we now have AMOLED or microLED.

The display tech specs on Apple's website are exactly the same (including contrast ratio) as last year's, and the backlight was mentioned several times during the keynote. It is not OLED.

I just watched the Apple video on the force touch tech, which specifically mentioned the backlight. This is an LCD display just like last year.

Says its an LCD, IPS display online. This is probably the better choice for the white based iOS 9

Also, puts to rest if LCD can have Force Touch
