I don't know why Apple, Google and others don't equip USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc with LIDAR equipment on their trucks, planes and employees to get the most accurate maps. It could generate money besides improved usage.
Those services all take the same routes to get to their destinations so they would only be providing a small amount of data. Also, none of their trucks match each other in size so all of the data would need to be adjusted for variations. When we’re talking about trillion dollar companies, control over any data gathering is far more important than the expense of gathering it.

A) Not everyone is poor. B) That equipment isn't that expensive.
What you day is true and yet makes no sense.

Yes. Google "San Francisco poop map".

 I have no words lol.

Human waste and used needles. An annual medical conference was canceled because it's gotten so bad.

What's interesting is how most people don't seem to know about it.

I never heard of it but i'm from the UK. Seems like it's homelessness caused by the lack of affordable housing that's the issue there. We have similar issues in London with increasing numbers of homeless people but they don't seem to bust a poop on the next street. Why are they not using the nearest public toilets or toilets available in the nearest restaurant, bar, shopping mall, supermarket etc?

I sure do ... and I’ve deleted Google Maps from my iOS device as I don’t sue Google serviced except Search or for Chrome on work laptop for bookmark sync as some firewalls screw with how Firefox access websites

I don't know how to use Google Maps since iPhone stopped including it on their early iPhones. I like asking Siri to give me directions to places handsfree.

I could only imagine that the man carrying the backpack option should be good for the areas where cars can't go. otherwise, I don't see the point, like through park grounds and boardwalk type situation etc.

I'd love to see Apple try to have this guy tool around Chicago with that get-up. I'd give him 5 seconds before he's assaulted.

That would not only be highly illegal in Europe, strangers on the street would probably tackle him and call the police.

I never used Google maps on my iOS devices. I previously used Navigon but when they announced they would be halting support for mobile devices I deleted their maps and went to Apple Maps. They are great for me but then I live about seventy five mile east of the Bay Area so I would expect them to be well maintained.

I love how the Apple Maps vehicles have a bare minimum of branding on them, not even the ubiquitous Apple logo is present. Meanwhile the Google Maps vehicles are wrapped in colourful graphics.

I don't usually use the google maps anyway. I haven't had an issue with Apple's maps before. Google Maps got me lost in Chicago until I switched to Apple Maps.

Besides, I use Waze sometimes if needed. (regardless that Google owns it)

Great I’ll be able to use my iPhone to find where I can relieve myself in public.
