I'm not a fashion person at all, but it is nice to be able to have a wide variety of watch bands to fit different occasions. I do wish that they'd stop putting so much focus on the bands though and start focusing more on developing a new MBP or even a 2nd gen Apple Watch.

If this means they are phasing out the Apple Watch, then, sadly I think it's for the best.

Like Apple Pay, it is clear that it hasn't been the success that Apple would have hoped and expected it to be.
They aren't phasing out the Apple Watch. It's been anything but a failure. I've only seen more and more Apple Watches popping up around where I live, with even non-geeks getting one. The Apple Watch has the highest stake in the smartwatch market, and it simply can't be a failure with those kind of numbers.

Also, Apple Pay is the most widely used mobile payment platform, and Apple is expanding it to the web on macOS now to grow it even further. It has been successful, just not wildly successful and miles ahead of the competition.

Neither of these two things are a "failure" according to those of us that use these services and also according to the statistics.

I've gotten a lot of utility out of mine and am seeing Apple Watches on more and more people everywhere I go. The new Watch OS is going to add even more utility and uh...make it snappier. ;) So I don't think it's at the failure and phase out point. If they invest in making it even more capable and more integrated with lifestyle products like HomeKit and Apple TV and health apps the watch may actually take off in a big way. Watches in general seem to be making a comeback, if all the adorned wrists I see around me when I go out are any indication. I guess we shall see.

But I have to grumble at the way they fumbled the launch and still seem to be fumbling their way with the accessories.

60% is not a fact. You just made it up.
"A health device for millions of healthy people" has no function.

This might be the most stupid thing I've ever read on this site...

http://www.fitbit.com/uk
https://www.sportsperformancetracking.com
https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/wearables/c10002-p1.html
https://www.withings.com/uk/en/
http://hyperice.com

I don't what all these companies are doing, wasting their time making all these functionless health devices for healthy people...

I want a SS Apple Watch with the White Sports Band :(

What's that you say? I'm a jerk

According to the statistics?

Oh yes, those endless statistics that Tim Cook gives us every keynote proclaiming how many millions of Apple Watches were sold.

No. He has given us not a single sales figure. For all we know they have sold 5 million and had returns of 3 million. In fact, analysing the earnings results, they sold about 5 million in the first year. That is a bad failure by Steve Jobs's standards.

I have seen a couple more and that is because they are selling them at $100 less in sales

Wheelchair users might have more practical things to worry about than children's watch straps.
"Fashionable and technology" are mutually exclusive.
"In the future" is anybodies guess and not a fact.
"A health device for millions of healthy people" has no function.
Sleep disorders are not affected a watch.
Daibetes is prevented by not eating so much glop not by handing over your cash to Apple.
"other ailments" is too vague to comment on.
"really, really stupid" is right on the money describing the watch and the deluded who buy it. So in that rather negative respect it is the right product for that particular market.

p.s Just at this moment I do need a wheelchair.
Wait, so now people who have the watch are stupid?

Like it was said multiple times in this forum, Apple was never going to release sales numbers for the Apple Watch even before it was even released into the market.
Also citation is needed on you 5 million sale number seeming as no official earning results were released.

It's not going anywhere, watch OS 3 is pretty incredible, really for this early of a beta. I hope a new one comes out soon but that the 1st gen bands still work or that there's some favorable trade up program.

Your constant defence of this greedy megacorporation is borderline pathetic. This is an open forum, not a religious cult where only flattery is permitted.

Much hate and fear I sense in you. Ironically, you're the perfect candidate for the Apple Watch and the new breathe app.

There's an Apple fan defending Apple on an Apple fan site and you're surprised by this and you call him "pathetic"?

Yes, how dare Apple, the "greedy megacorporation", try to maximize profits. Making a billion dollars a year should be more than enough and anything they make above that should be given away. The nerve of them to take part in this pure evil called capitalism.

Being the selfless person that you are, I'm sure you're happy with your current income and if offered a raise, you'd politely refuse and ask that it be donated to charity.

Apple is the only company in the universe that's out to make money, don't you know?

If they were phasing out the Apple Watch, they wouldn't be releasing a significantly updated watchOS 3 in September.

How is that a failure? The iPod sold 600,000 in it's first 14 months, and the watch sold millions. Also, Steve is dead.
