Anyone getting this error on Apple Music
  • "a server with specified hostname could not be found"
I started getting that message yesterday afternoon on Apple Music, when trying to play certain songs. Then it would just skip that song and play the next one. Really weird. I just switched to AT&T from Sprint because I was sick of Sprint's absurdly slow data speeds in L.A. I'm finding AT&T to be generally a lot faster, but hell, Apple Music barely works now unless I'm on WiFi.

I just switched from android the other day, so not quite set up to evaluate the Apple side yet. However, just know ATT was doing this to my android phone too while streaming youtube at lunchtime. The first thing I noticed was that it quit showing "4gLTE" and went to "4g" or the little signal icon wouldn't show it "sending/receiving" very often. This started at least 1 month ago for sure. So either they are throttling the juice or changing their system up. I am set up to use a lot of Gs each month, so feel if they are throttling, it's not right. I hear cable is doing this in some areas. This is a very good excuse NOT to buy ATT cell-enhanced tablets. Maybe their pocketbook would get the message better. If I get the large tablet, it will definitely not have cell on it.

Folks posting speed test results, you are missing the point. The article and theory is that AT&T is throttling Apple Music and App downloads specifically. And Speedtest doesn't prove much. Just as AT&T can throttle Netflix, Apple Music or other sites specifically, they can prioritize Speedtest to pump up results.

Wonder how she did this.

I know part of it was the fact that she's not a script-reading drone in the support department. She's an actual tech. She just completely deleted the LTE profile associated with my device on their end and then created a new one for it. My phone went from LTE to Edge, and then she created a new LTE connection profile for it and I saw the signal icon switch to 4G and finally back to LTE.

I was having this issue all of last week, and this morning on my commute I had no connection/streaming issues at all… hopefully this means that AT&T finally figured it out?

Unfortunately I'm not as lucky. Just tried to update an app..... and it's still loading it 30 minutes later.

I'm in Orlando Fl and Im able to download over LTE with no issues, pretty quickly I might add. I'm on a 6+ with 9.0.1
