iOS11 is the gift that keeps on giving. Craig needs to light a fire under his people. And if he can't, then he should go.

For Verizon Wi-Fi calling I will (rather often) get a loud screeching noise mid-call that the other party can't hear. It will go on until I hang up and call them back.

No carrier has this implementation down perfectly.
I never have this problem with ATT WiFi calling; just saying!

First solution - change carriers.
people still using Sprint?
They got when they had that promo free for 1 year. If there’s a biggest decision mistake in my life that’s when I switched to Sprint. Just everything about them is wrong in every way not just their coverage. Although I’m still with them unfortunately, I just wanna take advantage of that free 1 year that’s about $140 savings a month for 4 lines. I got 6 months left after that I’m done with them. Never ever going to go back with them after this even if they say I will give you another year for free.

I can confirm as a Sprint user that my iPhone 6S+ and my wife’s iPhone 8+ are both having this issue. Thank you macrumors for addressing this issue. I have called tech support multiple times.

My advice to Sprint customers - sprint away from Sprint as fast as you can, and run to T-Mobile (or any other Carrier).

Been there, and it's bad advice -- T-Mobile's reliability, especially for voice calling, is TERRIBLE. Really, really bad. Their implementation of VoLTE is a complete disaster, and regularly results in calls where one party or the other can't hear each other.

Walk in-building, and you lose all signal immediately. You need WiFi calling on T-Mo to use your phone inside any building.

I believed the T-Mo hype and ported in from Sprint, but after a week of not being able to make work calls or have reliable communications, I was back to Sprint in a blink.

Say what you will about Sprint CDMA voice, but it's rock-solid, rarely drops, and has great coverage both in-building and in suburban areas. Sprint WiFi calling is primarily useful for deep underground communications or "faraday cages" in bunker buildings where no signal can penetrate. You can't say any of that about T-Mo VoLTE... you NEED WiFi calling just to make a phone call indoors with them.

Many of us need our phone to be an actual phone, for work.

Apple, I'll just come right out and say it: You are the not the same company that you used to be. You no longer produce software that just works. Your software is riddled with problems and it is only getting worse. Stop trying to introduce new operating systems every year!!

You’re joking, right? I have Sprint and it’s barely usable anywhere in the eastern part of the United States

It's not clear it's Apple's fault. It might be but if the problem doesn't affect other carriers it's more likely a Sprint issue than an Apple issue.

My bad. I automatically assumed it was Apple's fault since Wi-Fi calling worked fine on one version of iOS and not the next. The only variables here are the carrier update and the iOS update. But I'll hold back my blame for now. :D

T-Mobile (US) WiFi calling has never worked right for me. If I use the speakerphone or ear speaker. Audio will suddenly cut in the middle of a call. They can hear my still I can't hear them. Bluetooth or wired headsets work fine. Everything works fine with WiFi calling turned off.

It doesn't matter if I clean install or how often the carrier settings are updated. WiFi calling equals dropped audio.

Apple demonstrates again how their IOS quality control continues to decline.
Who said it was definitely and Apple problem.

Way to support your false narrative with conjecture instead of fact.

Switch to android and you’ll know what poor quality control means.

I'm with AT&T and WiFi Calling has not worked reliability since I upgraded to IOS 11. Someday's it works most days it does not. Also it seems to depend on what WiFi network I am logged into.

Despite what is said in the article, I am having this issue with T-Mobile (prepaid customer). I used to have WiFi calling until I updated my iPhone SE to 11.2.

Edit: T-Mobile just issued a carrier update, and after restarting, WiFi calling is working again...
