Maps and other location based apps, e.g. Transit app are always getting stuck at the last location used when on LTE. No problem at all when on WiFi. Is this hardware issue or something to do with iOS? Anyone else with similar issues?

Thanks in advance

Can you elaborate with an example? Does using Apple Maps yield the same issue?

Yeah, Apple maps, google maps and specifically the Transit app.

For instance, if I use the map in the Bronx and come back to Manhattan and open it back up, it’s stuck at the last location used in the Bronx. I’d manipulate it manually back to current location and press the arrow and sure enough, goes right back to the last location, the Bronx, in this particular case

Very frustrating, to say the least

Happened to my 6 but when I updated to iOS 10. It completely screwed up my gps. When I'm driving it has no clue where I am at. Often times it will think I am at my work when I'm 20 miles away at home. I took it to Apple and they could give two s**ts. Of course it was out of warranty when this happened....as always when something f**ks up your phone. Been dealing with it for 2 years now. I was going to upgrade this year but the new phones are not impressive by any means so I will deal with it for another year

That sounds more like GPS signal acquisition than a Maps issue. Remember, your device needs to connect to at least 3 GPD satellites in order to acquier your location. However, being in densely built areas like Midtown or Lower Manhattan prevents good GPS signal reception.

Due to that, yu have aGPS in the iPhone aiding via cell tower traingulation. However, this might take a while from a "cold" start.

Thanks for that!

This sounds reasonable enough...still disappointing for a $1250 phone
