While playing with maps again earlier I noticed there have been a few changes already. The oceans might still be all in the wrong places but smaller rail stations etc. have started to appear near me.

It's very inconsistent though - I'm not sure what I do that makes them appear as they are not always there.

Attached are screenshots from last week and today

Good stuff!

Did people really think that the lack of Map data in the first Beta was indicative of what is going to ship in the fall?

They've added Ferry routes to NYC. That was definitely not there in beta 1.

They don't appear to be really useful in anyway though.

Hybrid view has improved too although not the satellite imagery.

Here are beta 1 and beta 2 views of the same junction

Yes, they did. I'm sure you've seen the multiple threads about how maps is a disappointment. Lol. I find this whole thing hilarious 😀

"They" would be fAndroid trolls, normal folks are reasonable enough to understand the word "BETA" and what it entails.

Why are they always "fandroid" trolls? Couldnt they just be concerned apple consumers?

Christ, you guys need to stop playing that card.

What's that card? The "logical" card? Didn't know we were supposed to ignore logic here. Good to know.

iOS 6 is probably not shipping for 3-4 months. That's a LOT of time to iterate. In fact you can tell that there's still much in flux because there's no "What's new in iOS 6.0" on developer.apple.com.

We're not even close to finalizing what's in iOS 6.0 yet.

No, they aren't "concerned Apple customers" because iOS 6 BETA is not available to "customers" only developers at this time. No regular Joe has a clue about iOS 6 let alone the new Maps stuff and they would not be spending precious time on here arguing about it. Are some developers concerned? I don't think so. They are smart enough to know "BETA" and how the software process works. That leaves trolls, who just happen to (by and large) be big Android fans and spend their time on an Apple board pushing Android. So I think my comment is fair and accurate.

no he's talking about the "anyone who complains about anything apple is clearly an android fanboy" card.

Those using it are customers. They bought the Apple device, they are both the customer and the consumer. It is not generally available to all customers, only a select few, namely developers.

So yes, they are concerned Apple customers.

On the note of Maps, it's still having trouble in my area.

Wow, it's really improving. Great to see (although it was inevitable).

Here's a question...is the updating of maps going to be integrated into the maps app after iOS6 is released, or only when the OS is updated?

Only time will tell... although looking at the 3 images at the top (beta 1, day 1; beta 1, today; and beta 2, today) I think we can be hopeful for some improvement even between updates.

So ironic considering how many blinded Apple fanboys were saying how less street names when zoomed out = an "improvement". LOL.

It still has less text and looks cleaner. Although I think google will be the best maps for a long time, it does get crowded with text at certain places to the point that you have to zoom in to get a clear view.

Walking directions were in Beta 1. Transit directions will take you to 3rd party apps but currently this list is unpopulated for me.
