Why all the hate? If you don't like her then don't watch but to say that "nobody cares" or "nobody will watch this" is ignorant. Those that like and appreciate her work like me will watch, those that aren't into her type of music won't.

Each to their own and all that but to come and post asinine comments is childish.

The real problem is what you say in your first paragraph.

You're essentially saying that an opinion, even one based in personal experience, that differs from yours is "ignorant" or "childish" or "juvenile."

Then to end your comment with, "To each their own," is hypocritical.

The same thing goes when another poster in your camp decides to post "hate" about people posting differing opinions.

Frankly, it's sickening.

Some people don't like Oprah .... so what?
Some people like Oprah ... so what?

And before I get roasted by the usual suspects please understand I've been in the activist and criminal justice sphere for longer than some members have been alive. I also happen to really like Mariah. Oprah isn't so bad, even though she gave Baltimore City the cold shoulder.

But all in all, I just happen to find celebrities gushing over other celebrities rather boring. There are a few of us that do. Sorry for making it seem like "nobody cares" but obviously some do because her show got made.

No need to read more out of what others are saying, or try to position oneself in a "moral high ground" like some other members are bound to do. Just post your congratulations to Oprah or thumb your nose at her and move on.

Pretty tone-deaf if you ask me. Sure, two years ago when the idea was formulated in pre-production, it probably seemed like a good idea. A niche audience, but sizable nontheless.

But today? Pandemic? Mass unemployment? Unraveling of democracies?

This show is way out-of-touch, even for its core audience. I bet the viewer analytics on this show are horrorific.

If ten years ago someone had told me Mariah Carey on an Oprah show would have made this site's front page I would have laughed in their face. Well, who's laughing now?!

To be clear: I love MacRumors - the staff did a kickass job on iOS 14 - but this is hardly the kind of news that keeps me coming back :D
I'm enjoying iOS 14 quite a bit. Watch OS seems to be better, too.

In other breaking news, Jennifer Anniston got her hair done.

Seriously, this is news worthy?

Jennifer Anniston is on an Apple TV show. I hear it's pretty good, but I use Amazon as it streams at work. Apple TV is blocked here...

Mariah Carey has been interviewed by Oprah Winfrey for Apple TV+ show "The Oprah Conversation," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The virtual interview takes a look at Carey's new memoir, "The Meaning of Mariah Carey." Although Winfrey has interviewed Carey several times previously, this new interview is said to be a more intimate discussion with personal anecdotes.

Previous episodes of the Oprah Conversation have interviewed Emmanuel Acho, host of "Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man," Professor Ibram X. Kendi, author of "How to Be an Antiracist," and Bryan Stevenson, founder of the Equal Justice Initiative.

Carey is also working on a Christmas special for Apple TV+, titled "Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special."

The Christmas special will feature Mariah Carey and a "star-studded lineup of surprise guest appearances" offering a "magical holiday journey to enliven the Christmas spirit around the world." It will combine music, dancing, and animation, driven by a "universally heartwarming story."

The episode of The Oprah Conversation featuring Mariah Carey debuts tomorrow on Apple TV+.

Emotions is an absolutely amazing album which I still track weekly. A true classic! Will I watch this? Maybe if I have the TV on when it’s on. Will it drive people to AppleTV? Hard to say.

Because it's cool to hate people. It's what some people do as a sport nowadays.

Articles about Oprah on AppleTV always draw anti-Oprah comments; that’s cool. (The motivation behind it is an exercise left to the reader, typically.)

Regardless, you’re wrong. Personal opinion? 🤣

Posting "no one cares" or "no one will watch it" isn’t a personal opinion based on experience, as you claim. It’s simply 100% objectively wrong. Just as “everybody hates Oprah” would be.

That’s not personal opinion, it’s merely Oprah-hate couched as personal opinion. Many “personal opinions” are nothing BUT hate.

Frankly, it’s sickening. People should love, not hate. Life is too short to spend any time whatsoever hating others, imo, but sometimes that’s all they have. I guess it’s more sad/pathetic than sickening.

It's funny how all these techy straight white guys on here think they're the only ones who use Apple TV+

I'll definitely be watching this because I love Mariah Carey and love Oprah! Good day to you!

Some of them think they're the only people who use Apple products PERIOD, but that's another discussion entirely.

Anyway, imagine thinking a woman who wrote every single one of her 19 #1 hits (only the Beatles have more, with 20 #1's) gave a flying f*ck about what some Apple nerds thought about her appearing on Oprah's show. Whew, chile. 😂

It's really funny to see the difference in reaction to other Apple TV+ announcements like the Ben Stiller & Patricia Arquette show & Jason Segel film.

Who gives a flying f*** about either one of these narcissists? Boo-hoo-hoo, my life has been so hard here in my multi-million dollar mansion with all my servants waiting on me hand and foot. Gimme a break.
Well, these two narcissists are self-made women. They weren’t born on third base, thinking they hit a triple. Many people in America and around the world respect and admire those who come from nothing and make it. It’s proof that the American dream still exists!!!

Come from nothing, become a multi-hundred millionaire like Mariah, or a (real) multi-billionaire like Oprah. Many admire that, some are envious, and for some, that envy festers like an abscess and turns to hate. Others are quite indifferent, because it doesn’t really affect their life in any way at all 🤷‍♂️

As usual, people have a wide variety of reactions, but it reflects more on them than Oprah or Mariah, who are both very popular worldwide. Millions upon millions will watch this on Apple TV+. That’s why Apple paid Oprah the big bucks!!

She’s an interesting artiste and we need to understand she makes really great music. There is no need to be negative about her. Mariah has been in the music business for more than 30 years with a long string of number 1’s. I can tell you, along with Michael Jackson, Celine Dion her music is gonna be playing for many decades. You can’t say the same about Bieber and Cardi B WAP. Give Mariah her due respect.
I have to agree. The remix of Fantasy with O.D.B. is history.

Why do ghost writers still exist instead of just working with a writer and both people get credit?
Well it doesn’t seem to something most people particularly care about, but as a sometime ghostwriter myself (mostly as a speechwriter for corporate executives and other public speakers) its nice to know people care whether celebrities share credit or pretend they’ve written it themselves 👍

Most people here probably didn’t know Mariah gave credit to her co-writer, so thanks for the nice counterbalance to those slagging Mariah or Oprah for whatever reason(s) they were triggered.

Racist and Sexist much? I doubt from most avatars and usernames you could or should try to guess the race, sex or sexual orientation of the members who posted here. Perhaps it is just a group of humans who didn't feel this article was newsworthy for a tech site or they don't care for one or both of the people on the show.
It's really funny to see the difference in reaction to other Apple TV+ announcements like the Ben Stiller & Patricia Arquette show & Jason Segel film.
I'm not sure that is an apples to apples comparison. The article about the announcement of the Ben Stiller & Patricia Arquette show was an announcement of a new show coming to Apple TV+. Oprah's show was already announced on the front page a while back, do we really need a front page article for every guest? You could make this comparison if there is a front page article discussing each episode of the Ben Stiller & Patricia Arquette show. I would complain about that!

It isn't always about race people, sometimes its just people complaining about content.... shocking for 'techies' I know.

Do you think there tends to be more input from the speakers on the speeches than their is from celebs with ghost writers? I get the speech writing part because most high level people don't have the focus or even the skill to write something but are most likely charismatic to deliver it.

Again, you're claiming a moral high ground. (as I said someone would)

I would like to refer you to this statement I already made and you skipped right over.

Sorry for making it seem like "nobody cares" but obviously some do because her show got made.

I hope that's enough for you to understand that 1.) NO, I don't hate Oprah and 2.) Hyperboles are still a valid form or expressing an opinion.

And lastly, NO. "People should love not hate" falls flat on its face as a subjective and morally bankrupt argument. People are free to express their feelings still .... right? And no one here really hates in the way you're trying to posit, but that's more of the punt-fake morality that's been spread around nowadays.
