A bad game
Plus controls are also bad
If they have changed the orientation of screen and made the game like beach buggy it would have been fun

The pricing aside, I have to create a Nintendo account to even launch the game?

This is EXACTLY why I’ll pay for Arcade. It may not have all games. But it will have enough games for the little time I have available to play anyway. And it won’t make me angry and frustrated by IAP etc.

I'm paying $5/month for Apple Arcade, which has a game called Sonic Racing - it looks pretty much just like a standard Mario Kart, but with a different cast of characters. I'd rather play that and dozens of other games than spend money just to get Mario on the screen.

I feel that the business model of these mobile Nintendo games sullies their reputation and heritage.

I remember they tried to do a one-time fee with Super Mario Run. I bit, but I don't think most people did. This caused them to rethink the strategy. My hope is that these mobile Nintendo games spur people to buy the Nintendo consoles - that is where the real magic is.

What? $4.99 a month?? Once it is on my kid’s phone I have to pay in perpetuity???? I was excited for this but we will pass.

This game is half baked.

To me it feels like a clone/rip-off of a real Nintendo game.

Just not polished and I think it sort of looks like crap on an iPad also.

Hilarious.

Please complain here for years there’s no Mario on iOS. Finally Nintendo gives us Mario on iOS and instead more people pay for freemium games like Fire Emblem.

Then people complain for years that they hate freemium games and, even worse, there’s no Mario Kart on iOS. So Nintendo gives us a Mario Kart which is free to play all the way until 200cc (which most people never play anyway), then it’s a flat rate per month (not freemium, not pay to win).

Then everyone swears up and down it’s a terrible idea, pans the game, and swears to never play it.

I expected hilarity but could’ve never imagined it’d be this close to an SNL sketch! Meanwhile of course millions are downloading and loving all of these games hahahaha

I would download the game for my kid....who is 9....if it only billed me the months he actually opened and used it. It is such a pain in the neck to go in an delete the subscriptions for apps that they love for two months and then stop using. Busy parents don’t have time for that crap. If I download it...in two years I will have given them hundreds of dollars for nothing. Pass.

Yea. I can’t believe there‘s a $4.99 subscription price here in the US. I know this is Mario Kart, and I love Nintendo, but jeez, it’s the same price as Arcade

Agreed. A monthly subscription to play it is really ridiculous.

And there's no multiplayer currently? Really?

Quite literally a mug's game. No thanks.
Exactly. I’m not going to say Nintendo is doomed. But I will say this is the death of Nintendo as we knew it. Ugh. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Super Mario Run? That game was fantastic. My kiddos still play it and they have owned the Wii, Wii U, 3DS, and Switch mainline Mario games.
I agree. I adore Nintendo. I own most first party games made for the switch. Love them. I was excited when I heard of super Mario run when it was released. I paid the $10 for it. I love it. Is it Super Mario Odyssey quality? No. But it’s also only $10. I don’t get the hate for this game. But it didn’t sell well and now here we are with nothing but freemium trash— and it seems to be spreading it’s cancerous tentacles onto the switch (new freemium Kirby game). Ugh.

None of the Apple Arcade games look good to me. But I applaud the business behind it. No in app purchases. No ads. It should spur development of some fantastic games, assuming reimbursement for developers is sufficient.

the controls are not good. I feel like minted o makes these half asses mobile versions so people will buy a switch to get the real experience.
I mean. That was pretty much the point to begin with wasn’t it?

I've gotten way more value from Apple Arcade so far, which is the same price, and has a longer free trial.

They tried the one time £5 way with Super Mario Run, it didn't generate as much as their pay to play titles. It's horrible but I think you can blame the consumer just as much here.
Let’s be honest here. Super Mario Run wasn’t that deep of a game even compared to other phone games let alone console games. Also the price was 9.99 when it came out.

Subscription fatigue - i understand and appreciate the model for certain things(businesses) but for a game at this price/month? Ridiculous! I won't even bother downloading it

If it were a deep online RPG... maybe.

A screen-tapping mobile game... no.

But then, Nintendo are just playing to their audience, and iOS users will tolerate a lot.
