I would download the game for my kid....who is 9....if it only billed me the months he actually opened and used it. It is such a pain in the neck to go in an delete the subscriptions for apps that they love for two months and then stop using. Busy parents don’t have time for that crap. If I download it...in two years I will have given them hundreds of dollars for nothing. Pass.

The subscription is optional — you know that right? There’s literally hours of free content here with no need to subscribe.

If the story is correct, the subscription is only required at 200cc and above, which is extremely difficult for the average player.

Either I’m really good or I’m not playing against real people. I won my first 3 matches.

Edit: Multiplayer isn’t available yet. That explains it.

I have been playing this game and for the life of me, I can not understand why they have us play in Portrait mode? And no option for MFi controller support? This makes zero sense for a racing game like this. I'm wondering if they simply ran out of time getting this together and plan to add on items like controller support later (and switch to Landscape mode). I know multiplayer drops on Saturday, for instance.

I was lucky enough to be a switch owner, so I already had a Nintendo account and getting into this game was super easy as a result. The game plays very much like the real thing, the controls and portrait mode just take away so much of what could be a killer game. (The pay to play is optional. I don't see that as a negative.)

Just my .02 pennies

I don’t see what the problem is. The $4.99 is OPTIONAL.
I agree. The article does not clearly explain what the subscription buys.

As far as I can tell, you don't need to pay a single penny to play the game. All $4.99/month gives you (gold pass) is you get worthless gold badges and get 200 credits instead of 100 when you win the race.

Having said that, the game's UI feels cluttered, made worse because it is designed for portrait orientation when most driving games are landscape.

people complainig at the $5 a month, clearly haven't played the arcade version. That price to play is way higher. Also it's totally optional. 200C isn't a good mode. there's currently no reason to pay any money to keep playing
