Mark Your Calendar: iOS 16.1 Release, New iPad Pro Launch, and More Coming Up

I ran the iPadOS 16.1 beta and then deleted the beta profile just before iOS 16 was released. I've been stuck on the beta since then. No biggie . . . This morning, I saw this:

However, when I check for the update, I get this:

What's going on? I'm willing to wait for 16.1.1 or whatever, but something is wrong now.

I’m considering just going for the gusto and ordering a 12.9” IPP 1TB cellular with that kind of point bonus. Currently have an order in with BestBuy for a 11” IPP 256G cellular. I can’t decide what to do. Both are massive overkill for what I need an iPad for, but…. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Or I could just get what is arguably the more appropriate iPad Air 5th gen for what amounts to $675 and bank my points for another day.
My order went through. I ordered a loaded 5th iPad Air to be shipped in 4-7 days. Nice to know it won’t cost me anything. I guess I can cancel my completely overkill iPad Pro order with BestBuy. Thanks for the Chase Points tip!

I'm so excited!! I can't hide it!! wooo hooo..

My iMac doesn't get Ventura via Software Update, yeaaaaaahhhhh!!!! Woo hooo... yeahhhh !!!! chicka chika bau wau

Already performed a Time Machine backup on my M1 MacBook Air yesterday in anticipation of the upgrade to Mac OS 13 Ventura tomorrow evening, just in case something goes wrong. And right now I am backing up my 2015 Retina 15" MacBook Pro that I plan to do an OpenCore install of Ventura on, but that probably won't be until Tuesday evening.

Same here. The ones who have to suffer are new device owners. They’re forever chomping at the bit trying to get as far away from their .0 release as possible.

Nothing about the two most anticipated Macs that are still coming? Mac Pro and the new larger screen iMac.

Ventura is being pushed out by marketing because of ... deadlines. Since it's currently a dumpster fire of bugs and features that will not be even close to working correctly for at least another six months or so, I'll be sitting that out. Ditto ipadOS.

The Craig and Greg interview will be a non-event. Come on, the Wall Street journal? Softball questions all the way through. They’ll be cracking jokes and talking about their pets. Won’t look for it or watch it.

Apple TV 4k update. I’m on it. Picking that up on the 4th and ignoring Election Day.

iOS 16.1…I might wait a week to update. Want to see if there’s any bugs or issues.

I have a IPP 2021 128k. I might downgrade to an IPad Air 5 since apple is offering $415 for my IPP and using the education discount it would only be $100 different(calculating cash back from Apple Card as well). That would give me a fresh battery(current one is at 89%. I used the crap out of it) and I want that starlight 💫 color. The only wrench in this is that the base air starts with 64gb storage. I’ll see….

Nothing is wrong. You deleted the beta profile, which is why you aren’t seeing any updates. You’re likely on a very old beta build since you are seeing that message. Either reinstall the profile to get the 16.1 RC, or wait until tomorrow for the public 16.1 release.

What “way” has Apple been?

I haven’t seen big stories about 16.1 or macOS 13 being particularly buggy, with the exception of Stage Manager on iPadOS, which is opt-in anyway.
As an owner of the 1tb m1 iPad pro, it's been VERY buggy. Worst os yet apart from the 2nd beta when ipados16 launched. That was the most stable despite stage manager being a complete hack job

Looking forward to these updates. And I’m interested to see how display scaling looks on my M1 12.9. I haven’t had issues with iOS 16 on my 14PM, so I’m guessing 16.1 will naturally be more refined for iPadOS. Excited about Stage Manager, despite the whining from a few. Software isn’t perfect, but that doesn’t spoil the curiosity.

Thanks, iStorm. I'd never seen that message before. After reading what your wrote, I guess it was a message from the beta OS to update to a newer beta OS.

FWIW, I'm in Japan, and it was already 10/24, so I thought the regular release had come and I was missing it.
