I think the Matte Black color is designed to make people want a white phone next time. After a few weeks, I'm finding it boooooring.

Anyone switch from Matte/JB to one of the others?

Wow.

Apple takes away black with the 5s and this forum (myself included) erupts with angry demand for the return of black.

Apple finally gives black back with the 7/7s and it's BORING?

I will tell you what's boring. Space Gray is boring. Boring as hell and I hate it. But all the other colors are NOT what I want so I'll take as close as I can get to black.

I want black back, but not so bad I'm willing to trade in my 6s+ for a 7+.

And no way in HELL has black EVER made me want a white phone!

Sorry, not yelling at you, just emphatically stating my opinion.

The Fact that Apple gave us two choices of black with the Matte and Jet black doesn't create any desire for me to want white. Every year I get a different color as it is, but it's likely Apple Will offer new colors this year. But I'm also not one that needs to jump on the latest color either, because those are the iPhones are typically hard to come across on pre-order launches.

Yeah, no. Matte black does not cause me to want any other color. I want the black bezel, so that means black or space gray (the truly boring color).

I may consider red if available, but more than likely I will chose black again.

At the end of the day, it's JUST a phone.

My wife got the Rose Gold 6s when we ported to T-Mob. It's a decision she regrets and if she had to do it again she'd stick with the Gold 6s.

I cite her as an example of the 'latest color' as you mentioned, at least back in 2015.

She liked her gold phone and by the time we were purchasing the 6s gold had been a color for some time. Her problem with Rose Gold is that my wife's idea of what Rose Gold should look like comes from the jewelry industry.

What she got, according to her, was a pink phone - not 'Rose Gold'.

Honestly, I'm a male and I have highly contemplated getting Rose gold if they offer it this year again for the iPhone. I know others may see this is a feminine color, but there something appealing about that I actually like. Perhaps this might be one of the least popular colors offered, but I might be able to get an iPhone earlier than expected. It's a good strategy if it works.

I'm not anti-Rose Gold and I don't have any chauvinistic perceptions about it either. I think it's a nice color, I just prefer black. My wife doesn't like it but that's not because she hates the color itself. She just doesn't like that color for her phone.

I've pretty much been a fan of black for a long time though. If that's a shade of color that's offered I will try and get it if I can. Just my preference. I tend to stick with my preferences though when everyone else wants to change it up. I'm the type of person who can hit McDonalds five times a week for lunch and always orders the same thing. Same with my coffee.

Just me.

Complaining about the colour of a modern smartphone as "boring" is like complaining about the colour of the dress on a beautiful supermodel you're dating. You simply don't know what to do with it.
I cannot imagine your reaction when you hear my complaints about the fugly camera bump and ugly antenna lines of the 6/6s series as well as my thoughts about the double fugly camera bumps on the 7 and 7+. ;)

I have a matte black 7 256
In truth I don't care about the rear color, it's sat in a case. but the screen being black is a must for me

At least the camera bumps create a functional issue.
They provide the same functional issue as the flush camera non-bump on my iPhone 5 and my iPhone 4s and my iPad Air 2.

That is to say, I don't understand how the bump creates a functional issue when iDevices without them can use cameras just fine.

For example, when I'm reading a book on my phone (ie. sitting on flat surface) it moves the phone every time I turn the page which is hundreds or thousands of times per book. Sometimes, it doesn't register a press correctly. Functional issue.

Agree with you Space Grey color looks lifeless to Me. I have all variety of Colors in my lineup [Silver - Space Grey - Gold - Rose Gold - and "Matt black" which is most appealing than any other available Colors in my opinion, Not a boring color as OP states.

This is all very subjective, obviously.

But if you start to feel bored with the look of your device, I suggest swapping cases. I have 4 cases for my phone and about 5 or 6 cases for my iPad (including a smart cover, full smart cases, and just back cases) which I regularly swap between depending on my mood.

I'm surprised that by this point no one has suggested OP simply slap a case on the phone. :)

Oops! Already mentioned!
