This sounds wrong BUT are you sure your just not missing the hole when you plug?

Technique brother, technique. Gotta treat her good and take your time with care...

Yes that is exactly why it is happening. I keep trying to plug in phone blind/in the dark!

He brainwashed them into liking Macs. They used to be PC *******.

Am a she! And they were never PC......................nor is this thread anymore :D

I have a bit of OCD when it comes to keeping my belongings looking fresh and new, so I have a technique when it comes to connecting my iPhone to the lightening cable in the dark. If you turn the iPhone flashlight on, it shines a very slight glow on the bottom of the iPhone which will help guide you to the lightening port (move the phone around a bit until you see the port). It's not as helpful as it was on my Space Gray iPhone 6+, but it's still better than complete darkness.

Yes - that's Stella. Also have her (younger) brother Sidney now. He is an Apple fanboy too!

My God. Are you guys that bad at plugging your phone in to charge? I never get those scuffs on my phones, but I look as I plug it in, too. What the hell?

With my space gray 6s plus I would poke around a bit in the dark :D until I found the hole and never left any marks. With the matt black 7 plus I have to be careful because it will show marks around the port from the finish wearing off.

I love a nicely worn black anodized object. Reminds me of some of my more well used AR's and pistols. Apple should try tenifer (SP?) which is what Glock uses on it's slide. If it can stand up to numerous holster inserts and draws and numerous harsh lubricants, it can stand up just fine on a phone.

ETA: It is Caturday isn't it?

RIP Bane...just passed last week.

its just a phone ... that gets replaced after 2 years anyway. you should see my iPhone 6. it looks like i was cutting sushi for days all over the back of the device (i didnt)

I've learned to be careful when plugging in the lightning cable as I did a pretty good job of scratching up my 6Plus around the lightning input. I'm sure it happens mostly at night when I finally put it away to charge before I fall asleep. Now I at least put the light on or use the light from my iPad screen to better see before connecting. That "feeling around in the dark for the lightning input" thing doesn't end well.

And? Doesn't change the fact that it isn't that hard to plug the lightening cable in without scuffing the hell out of the bottom of the phone. I swear, you guys...
