I think the whole understanding over the glossy/matte fiasco can be sumed up with that in bold. Apple: Screw professional users.

Pretty much. I said this in a previous thread- the MacBook Pro's name should be changed to the "MacBook Yuppie", since those are the only people I can see buying a "pro" laptop with a glossy screen. This is a really bad idea- especially for photographers on location shoots.

This is the event that Apple jumped the shark.

They went from pro-minded to luxury minded.

They've been slowly moving in that direction for a while. I've brought up this concern in other threads over the years, only to be told I'm crazy. Well, the thing that everyone told me would never happen- no matte screen on a Pro machine, has happened. And I'm sure I'll still get called crazy.

They'd better be careful- there are many companies that have gone completely Mac-based, including my own. We don't necessarily care if our computers are pretty, they just need to be functional and efficient. That's why most of us bought Macs in the first place. The pretty part is a nice plus, but in the end, a computer is a tool.

I can't tell whether or not you're being sarcastic. How is a polite request anything close to heckling? (Do you know what the word means?)

Yeah sorry,
maybe the "heckling" word was wrong.

I meant my comment of support, but defiantly used the wrong word to show support.

Phil: You offset the reflection by the brightness, and consumers love it. One of the great things about a notebook is you can turn it however you want!

How do you offset reflection by increasing brightness when looking at an image containing a "wonderful deep black" color?

What if I'm distracted by the reflections in the thick reflective bezel?

How do I turn it however I want while sitting by a window on a train or airplane?

Its very simple, if it bothers you that much you should wait until someone releases an anti-glare film. Otherwise buy the MB now and stop whining.

I don't think we'll be seeing matte screens come back (if ever) for a long while. That would involve changing the whole design of the laptop to remove the glass.

I have been using my parent's MacBook (white) at school and I thought the glare would be a big issue. It really isn't. The colors do seem more vivid and you can always turn up the brightness if you have a particularly annoying glare.

I can't remember the last time I had an issue with glare obstructing my view, if it helps. Even if I had the choice I think I would get my computers with glossy screens from now on.
