Several commenters here are claiming that the Glow lamp locked to a specific color temperature or only does going to sleep not wake up routines. The video seems to directly contradict this. Am I being mislead or are these posters rushing to post "first" before actually consuming the content from Casper?

I do like most things to be HomeKit and Alexa compatible but just like some people prefer the simplicity of switches a physical interface when I'm half asleep feels like it might be perfect. I hate shouting across the room, talking like a robot in sudo code, getting out my phone, or sometimes all three with increasing irritation just to get something slightly different than the pre programed timed routines that cover 80% of uses perfectly.

According to Casper Glow product page:
280 Lumens MAX with 2700K color temperature.
Nowhere on the page suggests varying color temperature.

Regarding wake up routines, again, the website does not indicate anything but basic "in the morning, soft light helps gently wake you up comfortably and, most importantly, alarm-free."

Can you elaborate on how HomeKit would add complexity? Many HomeKit lamps, such as Hue Go, have physical controls for traditional operations AND HomeKit for automation and voice commands. I wouldn't complain as much if Glow was priced low, but it costs more than many competing products with HomeKit.

Bizarre they don't support HomeKit. Way to remove the incentive to buy like 10 of these and just put them everywhere, high and low, and use Siri to control them.

Not supporting HomeKit is the kiss of death for this. Why would I want to download another app just to control a night light? I have other lights in the bedroom that are all HomeKit compatible so they all work in unison.
I'm with you. I don't have any smart devices, but if I did, I'd want them all to work in unison. Fragmentation in this arena is simply poor design.

That said, I'm very happy controlling my lights and appliances the old-fashioned way. ;)

Stick a Hue (or similar) bulb in the lamp of your choice. You can go to a lamp store (remember those?) and choose from 100's of lamp designs. There are many ways to program the Hue bulbs for a harmonious wake up/sleep experience (using Phillips or third-party apps), if that floats your boat.
actually the led bulbs start out too bright I find. what I do is use a hugh light strip above the bed facing up it starts ramping up at 10% as thats the lowest they go that ramps up for 15 minutes then a hue bloom pointing up starts then a couple other bulbs do after 10 minutes. this works great to wakeup to. when it is fully dark. I use a app called ihueconnect it seems to ramp up smoothly.

100%. Is it that hard to make it HomeKit compatible? Why do so many vendors not support it?

I have that same question. So many accessories seem to be this way. I have been looking into security caneras as well, and have discovered that when it comes to HomeKit, there really are very few options. Hopefully more vendors will start to support this soon. I certainly do not want to bring up a separate app to interact with every “smart” accessory.

That thing is dim. Only 280 Lumens max. Fixed on 2700K. And of course no HomeKit.

Yeah 280 lumens is just a sad amount of light. For far less than this, you could take a lamp and put a dimmer (Lutrons are excellent) and a good dimmable LED in it (Philips makes a nice one that goes warmer toward the low end of the dim range and whiter as it gets brighter), and you're all set.

For bedside use, I have a Philips wake-up alarm clock that gets much, much brighter than this at full brightness, and find it's a great way to start the day. It goes from a very dim yellow color to a blaringly bright white over the course of maybe 20 minutes so you wake up gradually. That almost always wakes me by itself without noise, but it does have sound options if you want to really make sure. The UI is kind of meh but it does what it is supposed to quite nicely.
