Its a tradeoff and I would wager the vast majority of people rarely (if ever) shutdown their computers or phones.

How is it a trade off? There is no benefit to the user.

Processes failing to quit or start is not a good thing no matter how you want to try and spin it.
 
My superdrive does not work (it is recognized but ejects all disks). Besides, he had already changed me once guaranteed.
I wanted to know if the owners of a SuperDrive have the same problem on OS X 10.9 or maybe it is defective (it was not their strong point at Apple).
