For what little it's worth it appears Apple calls these press conference product announcements "*Special Events" and not Keynotes. Here is a link.

*The October 2011 Special Event is mislabeled as a Keynote on this page but if you click on it it's labeled correctly as a Special Event.

I could be wrong, but I've always interpreted any presentation as a "keynote" in Apple-speak...

A press conference is not a keynote...

I suppose no one told Engadget, or numerous other tech blogs...

2 (or more) wrongs don't make a right. Blogs are notorious for mistakes...

Quick you better go tell Apple they dont' know what to call their presentations!!!!

I see differently. 😀

I think Apple considers the whole thing a "special event", but will refer to the action presentation as a keynote. Go to the apple.com homepage. Every "tab" on the homepage about the iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, the special event itselft, etc will reference "Watch the keynote" about the presentation

To get this thread back on track... any speculation on a release date? Are we thinking some time in late October? It'd be great to get it sooner since I'm looking forward to the integration with iOS 7, like keychain.

Keychain abandoned in iOS 7 GM

Apple will abandon Tim Cook soon 🙄

1) the feature is being held off till Mavericks

2) People are so ridiculous calling for the firing of Tim Cook. He's done a great job so far. Sure Apple hasn't released a game changing new product line in his 2 years... but then again, no has anyone else. These things take time.
