"Apple should stop making phones thinner and lighter! We need heavier, thicker phones with larger battery!"

Apple did so.

"Apple's phones are so heavy that I will cancel my order."

no offense, just the irony is striking.
Another one I like is that when there's an incremental update to the lineup we hear about how Apple's not innovative and basically just selling the same phone again and then when Apple does make a lot of changes we hear how it's awful Apple is making us pay a bunch of money to beta test their new ideas

I preordered the iphone 11 pro max and now I am having second thoughts about not getting the iphone 11 pro. All of the talk about the extra weight of the phone is starting to make me wonder. I know I have 14 days to exchange the phone if I think the max is too big (even though I am coming from a iPhone XS Max), but how hard is to exchange the phone in the first 2 weeks of launch? And what happens if I am on Apple’s IUP?

Thank you!
You can do a device exchange if you aren’t happy with device within 14 days. Sometimes there is stock left over on the day, so ask your advisor and you may be able to exchange on the day.

With iUP requiring a credit check there is always a risk of it declining if you return and exchange but usually easily rectified by the advisor contact Barclays directly on the day and they will push it through.

I'd say give it a week. You'll get used to it.

Heck just carry around fifty pounds of gear in a rucksack all day. The iPhone will seem light as a feather after that.

I'd like to think those two groups of gripers are mutually exclusive of one another. Those willing to sacrifice for lighter and thinner and those willing to sacrifice thinness and weight for performance, battery and structural integrity. I'd suspect most are but there is likely some crossover.

Strawman. Did this poster complain about phones being too thin and light? If not, why make it as though there is one uniform opinion?
Thanks.

Let me be clear - I am NOT complaining about the extra weight or size. I have had the 7+, 8+, X, and XS Max - I have been fine with the bigger size. With all of the complaining on macrumors about the extra weight and the bigger size, it just got me thinking that it might be nicer to downsize. Being a woman, I can't really text with on hand on the max, but I have adapted.

The point of creating the thread was not to complain about the size increase, but to ask how to go about exchanging the max for a pro IF I decide to.

How much extra weight is it? Really?!

The XS Max is already on the heavy side, the 11Pro Max just adds to that instead of subtracting from it. You're now at a half-pound phone in your pocket. When does it end? 1 lb? 2 lbs?

You obviously never had a smartphone from the early 2000s ;)

Until we hold these in our own hands, we won't truly know. Here is the good thing. If it's too heavy, you can go with the 11, the Xr, the 8, you could buy an Xs XsMax refurbished, you can even hunt down a refurbished SE. Aluminum is lighter than steel.

I have always said I would be ok with a slightly thicker, slightly heavier phone if it would add battery life. They went further with the battery life than I think a lot of us anticipated.

It's not really irony -- different people have different wants. I want my phone to be very thin and can live with a bit less battery life. Others want more battery life.
Couldn’t agree more. I would take a phone that is even 1 inch thick as long as it doesn’t have bendgate or a crap battery life. Like you said - different people have different wants.

Pretty much this... When the rumors came out I couldn’t believe it.

I suppose we all just have to get used to use it with 2 hands
