I guess I'm fortunate enough that my eyes are not good enough to suffer from noticing this issue. I've had mine since launch and not had such a problem. I've got both the pencil and smart keyboard (birthday presents), and don't use the pencil too much though it's cool to have... I'm not an artist, but would definitely use it heavily if I got back in position to take regular notes. Having the keyboard changes it even more for me where I'll likely use my MBP even less. The screen size and weight are at an ideal level, and I wouldn't go back to an Air or Mini (which I had and loved).
I'm happy you dont notice it! I'd love to be able to ignore it myself, as i loved the rest of the IPP!

Since I'm not following the iOS apps as closely as I should, are there more "pro" apps available?

I don't know about any new apps, but existing apps like Numbers and Pages do feel more "pro" just because of the larger screen size. I also got this PDF annotation app called LiquidText after someone mentioned it on a thread here, and even though it's been around from before the release of iPP it feels like it was made for iPP. iOS 9 has also added quite a few features that collectively make the workflow easier. My favorite is keyboard shortcuts. Back when the first iPad came out, I tried using it with a Bluetooth keyboard, but got tired of having to tap the screen every other minute. Now, it's more like I tap the screen once every five minutes.

If you can accept the massive motion blur the IPP has, it's a great device! I couldn't, so i returned mine. The response time of the display (GtG) is way too high, causing everything to blur when moving. Actually scrolling webpages over longer periods of time caused strain to my eyes, something i've never experienced with iPads, iPhones, Macs or Windows PC's.

That's exactly what I meant by "display issues".

I've also never noticed this motion blur. How fast are you scrolling? I only notice blur when I'm scrolling rapidly (and it also happens with earlier iPads) and then it doesn't bother me because when I'm scrolling that fast, I'm not trying to read the words, I'm just trying to get rapidly to a certain point in the page.

Do you use office at all? I can see that being a nice benefit (even though I get the full office version on my SP3).

Not on the iPad, and especially not on the iPP, because that requires a subscription, which I don't have. But I imagine Office apps would also get the same benefits as iWork apps from being on a larger screen.

Soon after I got my iPP, a client sent me a document in PowerPoint format, all these annotations on drawings. I opened it up in Keynote on the iPP, and was able to just copy out the original text into Notes app, type up the translation, and paste it back into Keynote. (Each bunch of text was short, so Notes was sufficient.) I wouldn't have dared that on the iPad Air, it would have been go sit in front of the iMac to work on that thing.

I convinced the new director of my department to buy one (although I don't own it), and she did indeed got it two weeks ago. We chatted about it a couple of days ago.
She loves it. She showed to me how it changed her workflow, how she almost completely replaced paper, and how fast (intuitively) she does everything. It really improved her meetings, and how she handles information gathering.
Can she do most of what she's doing with a laptop? Most likely yes, yet it doesn't feel natural. Point and click, switch from this to that, open the laptop etc. She told me that with the IPP she feels like that she carries around only her yellow notepad, yet she has everything else with her, including documents that she didn't think she needed for this or that meeting.
Being in government, this allowed her to replace many binders and stuff. She is now in better and constant communication with everyone else and her desk is almost empty(a rarity in government).
Again, almost everything she does with the iPad pro could probably be done with a MBA, but the "naturality" of it is the real game changer on top of the "paper replacement" (govmn't will never completely replace paper!).
Basically after I convinced her to buy one, she convinced me that given my wife's line of work (HR Manager) she needs one. And I will get her one.

In addition, all the other directors now want one.
[doublepost=1456865375][/doublepost]Oh, I'd like to add one more anecdote...
she told me that she was in a meeting, and while the various people were talking she was able to create an incredibly quick, yet graphically cool, presentation to show at the final Q&A. Thanks to the split screen etc, she was able to gather the data (some from Excel), and move it to Keynote and do something that was never done before here. The presentation-on-the-fly allowed her to present her data with the question, just by holding the screen up for everyone to see (no need for projectors since it was a small meeting), swiping between slides.

Please let me know how it works for you

I am also considering buying an IPP. As a student, I use my iPad Air 2 to read digital textbooks and pdf files quite frequently but the screen is so small that I have to zoom in from time to time. I bought Logitech keys-to-go and several stylus, like adonit jot script but they never work well for me. But I am just afraid that there may be a price drop after the announcement which will allegedly be held later this month or Apple may bump the base storage to 128GB to match with surface pro 4. I am not sure how 3d touch, which will likely to be featured in the next ten IPP, will be implemented widely and don't want my IPP to be obsolete so soon...

Get it a few days before the keynote (which should be soon), if such drops happens ask for some $$$ back or return the product using the return policy. But check if it is legal before doing so.
But please note. If you are considering buying it, it means that for you the price that Apple is asking now is fair enough.

I'm in a very similar position, also a student, I feel like a pencil could make my life significantly easier. I've decided to pull the trigger on a 32GB on March 18th. If there's a big change on the Monday I'll be able to return/exchange it no problem, but I'm perfectly happy to pay the price of the current model (albeit it 32GB, though I'm slightly wavering on that...). If you feel that you can use it with the current hardware then the hardware of the next generation is not important to you. Your model will only be redundant when you cannot use it any longer.

I'm going to wait to see what gets announced on march 21. If the 9.7" pro gets a price bump then I'll reconsider the ipp as the gap will be smaller. Currently its £479 for the 64GB air 2 64GB, and £679 for the 32GB ipp. If that gap narrows then I might lean towards the larger device.

If the 9.7 has 4x speakers, A9x & 2-4GB and lower screen res - I would find the appeal of the 12.3 to have diminished a bit.

Apple wants to sell iPad Pro more. I think it's probably not gonna happen that new one will have 4 speakers and as much as strong storage size as current iPad Pro? I believe they want to keep iPad Pro as a superior model within iPad series, creating exact same specs but just size difference and price down doesn't sound likely coming up.

I too was planning on waiting until the 21st but lacked the self control. Had the ipp a few days now and I'm loving it. The extra screen space means that split screen and picture in picture are great. I'm an auditor and a student so spend hours every day on trains - I've been annotating my course notes whilst watching videos downloaded from Amazon prime and I can't imagine a better train gadget.

I also picked up the IPP recently. Keep an eye on discount sites because there have been some great deals lately. I picked up a sealed cellular model for $930 from an eBay seller, and if you don't have to pay tax, that's just another bonus. As long as you do your diligence on the seller, it's a solid way to go

personally, if you dont want the pencil, i would say no, go with a smaller size. IPP is big for reading books and what not. i dont like reading on it or content consumption. its rather awkward in my hands. its very thin and slick. i actually dropped it on my head twice reading in bed before i gave up on that. but its a dream for sketching or taking notes on. 10" is a really ideal size. Jobs really nailed the design on the ipad.

but if i was not an artist, i would just get a mini sized one.

I am sorry, but 800 pounds for a device which ends up being used as any other regular iPad (which I believe is the case of the OP) is kind a waste of money. By being used as any other iPad I mean, media consumption, reading emails, casual web browsing and some text processing and video editing. Even Apple knows that and that is why they try to sell it mainly as a productivity device. iPad Pro is really nice, but it is definitely not a good bang for the buck...yet.

I have a Pencil but for the most part I bought the Pencil for sketching out layouts and making notes. Purely personal use. My iPP would have been so handy when we were planning our landscaping. Won't say I won't do some artistic sketches with it, maybe playing around, but it was more or less purchased for exactly the reasons you listed above. It's a great size for watching video that you don't have to hold in your hand and can still see well on the screen at a little distance.

For me what the larger screen gives me is well worth spending the extra dollars for instead of spending two or more years wishing I had a larger screen all those years.

I have a IPM4 and it's size is most convenient. My IPP comfortably replaces the need for a laptop and I'm going with a MM for desktop use. I've made considerations to balance cost versus usage pattern.

I know I said I would wait but I don't know anymore. I think people are right the larger size screen has a huge advantage.

Is there any reason I shouldn't ? I know the new iPad comes out in less than a month but it will be the 9.7 inch.

Please wait until iPad Pro 2 - iOS 10 new features might not work on old Pro you will be very angry. You will be glad you got a Pro 2 with new iOS 10 hot features.
