It hasn't changed much, but I would still really appreciate some tips on what could make this better!

First off - a question, how did you align your dock to the left? I have always wanted to do this.

And secondly: My desktop: The image is the lights from Iron Man's Arc Reactor.

You can use OnyX, but if you prefer doing it the more "natural" way, you can use any one of these three commands in terminal:
Code:
defaults write com.apple.dock pinning -string start
defaults write com.apple.dock pinning -string middle
defaults write com.apple.dock pinning -string end
I'll let you guess what they do. To relaunch the dock and see your changes use command: killall Dock

Awesome! second question - how would I change the iCal dock icon in snow leopard, been having difficulty with it - I'd like to set it as something different and text based… …

This may not be so easy, in fact, I don't know if it's possible. The only thing I know how to do is change the calendar image behind the date. I think your stuck with the black text just the way it is though.

how do you guys have the date, time and temperature displayed on your desktop...sry never have used a MAC, and i'm going to be purchasing my first MBP during the BTS special (free ipod touch)

Most people use a program called Geektool.
Here is the description from the Geektool website:
GeekTool is a PrefPane (System Preferences module) for Mac OS 10.5. It let you display on your desktop different kind of informations, provided 3 default plugins :

File plugin to monitor MacOS X activity with /var/log/system.log, or any file that you want to follow. Shell mode to launch custom scripts or commands like "df" to check space left on filesystems, "uptime" to monitor load of your machine... Finally, Image mode helps you monitor bandwith usage, CPU loads, memory availability of your server, via tools like MRTG or RPD.

If you want to get into it I would suggest looking at some of the shell scripts for geektool and checking this geektool thread out. It's been going on for a little over a year!

No problem. Truth be told I'm just putting off writing an essay, so it's not hard for me to find something to put a little extra time into. :D

Link please. Plus, if it is not too much trouble, mind telling me what widgets you used for the stuff on the desktop?

Weather and Time are Geektools scripts. I got the fonts at Dafont which is an awesome website to get very cool fonts - for free.

For the iTunes info I use Bowtie with a skin from deviantart.

Another month gone already  where does the Time go as we get older??
anyway, Wallpaper is an old favourite House MD and the dock is Eclipse Dock reflective and the seperator is a quick photoshop thing :)

I have a question about desktops that I figured wouldn't be entirely inappropriate here. I'm certainly not going to start a new thread for it.
When my mbp is not connected to a display, my background image is the kitty with the ice cream cone on its head. When connected to my tv via the mini display port to hdmi cable, my background is the black wallpaper pattern. Display is mirrored. It changes automatically when I plug in the cable and back again when I disconnect, what is the cause of this?
