13-inch, Mid 2013,
I ordered via Apple online store and rec'd it on June 6.
Forget specs, its like buying a new car and getting DMV documents showing it is last years model - not good
I contacted Apple Sales Support and they say it this will be corrected "shortly", but not sure what "shortly" means to Apple.
I suggest that others contact Apple Support to echo this problem, this type of momentum may prioritize a fix.

You mean corrected as in remote software/firmware update?
Well I'am sure it says 2013 for a reason, but it's certainly isn't doing any good for Apple :D.

It matters for two reasons:

1. I just ordered it, and want to make sure I got the newest laptop (which is why I waited until after the refresh on Apr 29th to order mine.

2. Resale value. If the laptop is showing a year older than it actually is, it will lower the value when it comes time to sell and upgrade.

All you readers - this is the MAJOR point. It's like buying a new car and receiving a document from Dept of Motor Vehicles with a previous year's registration.

For those of you that care, do contact Apple Support and voice your concerns so that this can be corrected soon.

Apple does have this on their website;
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP700
Has anyone been able to obtain this product?

ordered mine on 3rd June, received mine on the 9th. 13", i5, 8GB, 256GB.

Shows mid-2013 but it doesn't bothers me :)

Got identical system, i5 1.4ghz, 8gb and 256gb storage and it also says 13-inch, Mid 2013.

Those who say it affects the resell value, I am wondering how is that affecting the resell? Are you going to say you got 2013 model or 2014 model when selling? People who care enough to validate things, will know in 30 sec that 1.4Ghz model is 2014 since the said CPU didn't exist until 2nd quarter of 2014. People who do pay much attention, simply do not care, so I have a hard time understanding how this minor issue affects the resell value?

People do care, especially after a couple of years when hardly someone will remember that 2014 models were disguised as 2013. Even now we could argue as to whether it was manufactured in 2013 or 2014. I mean, what's the reason of writing it as 2013 if it's 2014 model? Quite possibly it was produced in 2013 with updated CPU and was waiting for 2014 till Apple officially update the specs, so on paper it's already 1 year old.

Sorry I don't change laptop so often, I still have my 2010 Mac Mini on stock configuration working perfectly fine. Now the Mac Mini has been "promoted" to be my media server and my 2014-MBA is now my primary machine.

I guess I am in the odd bunch of Mac users who treat their Apple products as consumables instead of collectibles. Computers get cheaper and better over the years, no point arguing about being 2013/2014. I am contended as long as I get a 1.4GHz processor inside my MBA and I paid $100 less than last year's model

Well for the moment there is no difference. However if you do decide to sell it later on, you can't really advertise it as 2014 model. :p

It may have similiar specs to 2014 one, but it will be hard to prove to someone that "about mac" info stating "mid-2013" is somewhat incorrect.

Bought a Macbook Air 13" at Best Buy a little over a week ago. It says 2014, not 2013.

I received my 2014 11" 8GB RAM few days ago, it says mid 2013:

Contact Apple Sales support

I received my 2014 11" 8GB RAM few days ago, it says mid 2013:
Explain the situation and ask for;
New MBA, with proper designation, and extended terms to make a return
Apple explenation on when there will be a fix for this situation if you decide to keep current MBA
Or given this situation, request compensatory adjustments?

I was just curious, I see that some of you called Apple about this issue. What number did you guys call? Technical Support? Customer Service?

What the hell? Apple has never done this before. What an underhanded move. Very disappointed -- was considering buying an upgraded 8GB 2014 MacBook Air. Now not going to waste my time until this is rectified.

Loool, some apple community members are really funny;)

What is funny about this? When I buy something, I want what I am told I am purchasing.

I think he was referring to the fact that you don't even have the problem described in this thread, yet you still going to put off purchasing a new Mac on the off chance that you'll be disappointed, even though when you add the computer to your cart, it shows exactly which model you're ordering:

Um.... the people posting who have this issue also were shown which model they ordered in their cart and got the wrong one. It seems too prevalent of an issue to make me want to waste my time ordering one then having to exchange and deal with the bs over and over until I get what I ordered. Use some common sense. Why would I want to order one if people are being sent the wrong year's model when they are told when purching that they are getting this year's model? It makes no sense and is either an underhanded move by Apple or some pretty blatant negligence.

They are getting this year model, only "about this mac" is a mess - if THIS is somebody's major problem with any computer, he/she is lol person to me.. These are ridiculous problems, even for the first world:D

Explain to me how you know for certain that it is only a problem with "about this mac" and not that the machines themselves are not in reality the 2013 model. Also, what if someone I sell the computer to in a couple of years comes back to me and says "but about this mac says it's a 2013 model" and causes me grief and hassle for a return? And how do I know that I won't get less for it when selling it in the first place? Why can't Apple just fix this if it's only a software glitch / oversight as you believe?

Says "Early 2014" on my 13" MBA purchased from Best Buy on July 3rd.

Thank you. This is exactly why this is an issue for me.

Good luck explaining to potential buyers: "sorry this was just an Apple error".

I'm not satisfied with the answers thus far. I'll probably wait for the rumored 12" with retina anyway, but for those who have bought these and haven't noticed yet, I feel bad for them when they go to sell. Hell, if they sell on eBay and a buyer returns the item, the original owner might think the eBay buyer switched the computer. I can see this causing all sorts of problems. Plus, I am admittedly picky and a perfectionist, so I would want my 2014 model to be a 2014 model and to show it in "about this mac" as well. I know some people don't care, but I do. Laugh at me all you want.
