I was playing with a rMBP yesterday at Best Buy. The screen is gorgeous! It was fun for a minute but I love my MBA. MBA is the perfect Mac for me.

Right now, I am happy with the specs of the computer. I am having remorse over whether I should've gotten a 15" pro. I can always put it on ebay or something, and get the extra money for one. What do you guys think?

As someone else mentioned, if you are happy with what you have, and it does everything you need it to do, then enjoy your awesome machine. You're in high school, there will be plenty of time to stress about "what if" scenarios, but a laptop is not one of those things.

Keep in mind that your computer purchase is not a lifetime commitment, but have a multi-year plan. If your needs change in 6 months, re-evaluate your options then.

Also, don't forget that the retinas and Pros haven't been updated with the latest chips yet. Those should be here in a few weeks/ months. If you buy one today, you'll be left with even bigger buyer's remorse when the new ones come out.

You have what many people consider the absolute best laptop on the market. Consider yourself lucky. No computer is perfect.

Yeah, it's like the time I traded in my Corvette Grand Sport (red, convertible) for a Mercedes SL550. For a while I was regretting that decision, kinda like this MBA vs. MBP thing.... But I got over it.

IMHO, at the end of the day, what matters is your satisfaction.

We can all quote prices, benchmarks, and reviews, but none of those things really matter as long as you like/don't-like what you are using. As I said somewhere else, all opinions come with a certain amount of unavoidable bias. Sometimes, you just have to trust your own judgements and opinions!

That's why some people can be happy with less modern processors/technology (example: all users in the "PowerPC Macs" forum), while others need to have the latest tech. It all depends on what you want to use your Mac for and what is good enough for you.

If you really think you need the next retina MacBook Pro, just return the MBA and wait for the rMBP.
Just don't regret the machine you purchase, because you are paying (hard earned) money for something that is meant to help augment your productivity, quality of work, and personal development.

The retina is a way better machine. You can always sell it and buy one. No comparison. I've owned both. Unless you need the portability, like really need it, then the choice is too obvious.

I am coming to the conclusion that I won't be getting the MBPr or anything like that. I've decided to get an external monitor to up the screen real-estate that I have, and to aid me in my editing. The gaming part will figure itself out as Macs aren't really meant to game.

With this setup I get the real-estate I will need for my editing and to expand my gaming screen size, while keeping the battery life and mobility of the Air.

It's the best of both worlds. Good choice! Hope it works out for you. :apple:
