Hello,

pretty happy with my ~ 2 weeks old refurbed MBP 14", but it shows some sort of space / clicking noise / wobbling (hard to explain) for the touch id key in all 4 corners of the key, when slightly (not activating Touch ID) pressing the corners. Isn't the case / feels definitely different on my day job MBP 16" resp. also a few other machines I have checked out in retail stores. There, the touch id key is tight in all 4 corners.

Anybody ever seen something like that? Don't know if this is a (long-term) concern, once I'm out of a warranty window, but function-wise, the Touch ID works just fine at the moment.

Thanks.

Do you have an Apple Store nearby where you could take it for them to take a look? As long as it's still functional, it will possibly be tough to convince them to address it. But perhaps taking it to them would be a good start.

Unfortunately not. 200km car drive. Thought I'm asking here first, if others have that too before looking further, getting in touch with Apple Support or similar. Thanks!

I had this on a MBA M2 - felt like there was no support under the top left hand corner which made it feel bouncy. I exchanged it and the new one was fine.

Mine doesn't have that, it's lodged solidly in there and doesn't even have the tiny wobble of the other keys. If it bothers you, you'd have to return the device. Not really something that can be considered a defect.

Thanks. I returned the device and placed an order for another refurbished 14" (including a spec bump, but that's a different story :)). Arrived this week and this one doesn't have that wobbling touch id key anymore. A power cycle count of 2 etc. Looks and feels like a new device. Super happy with that.

I had a similar experience this month. I am Director for a team that has purchased 20 Macbook Air M1 laptops. I was setting 9 of them up recently, and on one of them, the trackpad just didn't feel right. Every time I pressed the Trackpad, the Tactic response did not feel right (it was a minimal response). We are more than 1 hour's drive from the nearest Apple Store, so I called Apple Care for Education and they sent me a box the next day, and the repair only took one day, i.e., I had the computer back in 2 or 3 days (everything is sent overnight), with a note that they replaced the trackpad. So the trackpad feels great now. Of course we had Apple Care and it was not a refurbished machine, so our experience might be different than yours, but I hope that feedback is helpful for you. Good luck with your trackpad!
