MBP 16" black screen when switching from integrated graphics to dGPU

I have been dealing with this for awhile now, 2019 16" MacBook Pro, 64GB, 4TB. I finally updated to Big Sur 11.3 in order to fix it and no joy. In photoshop (Most recent update) I noticed it got really laggy in the last couple of updates so I look at my performance settings and the graphics section was greyed out with a message saying it had detected a driver error.
So I went into System Prefs in the OS and switched off Automatic Graphics Switching and for now, it has fixed the black screen on wakeup and the laggy graphics in photoshop, no longer greyed out.
Not sure what to think going beyond this but for now, its a work around.
