Will keyboard cover help?
I would expect that any cover would interfere with the ability to feel the activation point of the keys, causing you to type harder to be sure you depressed the key fully, which will just make it louder.
Will keyboard cover help?
Ah ok, fair enough. Can you compare the click sound of the two keyboards with just the minimum force needed to depress the key? I have the magic keyboard 2, it doesn't make loud noise when you type normally. Can't compare to the 2016 MBP, as I have the 2015.Sigh. The point of the video is that with the same amount of force, both keyboards are equal volume but different pitch.

Again, it could be the pitch and not just the volume. I made a video to compare
I am a student and the keyboard is a dealbreaker. I cannot use this notebook at the library. So much for the education focus of Apple.
They are teaching you that pounding the keyboard is not proper typing technique.
I'm sorry but this advice is so stupid.
No one is pounding on the keyboard, and this is significantly louder than my old 15" rMBP.
In the video, I was pounding on both keyboards.
Ok. I find that the keyboard is actually much less noisy than the old ones now that I've had mine for a week.Didn't watch it, I just own both and know the difference.

Of course,I have other major problems with my tMBP, so...
I'd rather smash ***** out of Tim Cook to fix this! I've been using my new laptop for 2 days, now. Now typing from my old one.... and i think i might stay with it. Touch bar is a complete gimmick unfortunately. You can always smash the **** out of them and maybe they'll soften over time
IK couldn't agree more.I'd rather smash ***** out of Tim Cook to fix this! I've been using my new laptop for 2 days, now. Now typing from my old one.... and i think i might stay with it. Touch bar is a complete gimmick unfortunately.
First it looks pixelated. Don't expect iPhone screen quality there. You actually can see the display there, keys look deeper, not on the surface.
If something is reflecting in the touchbar, you cannot see the keys (obviously, but it is a big flaw for office lighting i think).
Is it just me or does anyone think it's getting slightly quieter with use? Either I'm learning not to bottom out the keys as hard or it's breaking in, or both. Or maybe I'm just getting used to the sound. Whatever the case, it doesn't bother me as much anymore.

Oh come on. I've been to 4+ college campuses as a student myself (COC, VVC, UCR, UCLA) and been in their libraries. Every library has rows and rows of computers with normal keyboards clacking away at all hours of the day and night. There is NO WAY that this keyboard is preventing you from using it in a library.
I tried typing on 2017 model in store and the keyboard is much quieter than on my 2016 model.
