BTW- What is CentOS? Is that a Linux variant?

CentOS is a free version of RedHat, it's taken from the RedHat source and then developed from there. Saves the price of RHEL support costs for development platforms, or if you just want a RedHat-alike machine to carry around.

Yep, there are lots of other alternatives out there, but we use this one as it is essentially RHEL.

HTH,

Mark.

OK! I'm up and running on 3GB and things are snappy as ever. I can't say I notice much change at all with everyday use. I did give Parallels a gig of its own for Windows XP Pro. I need to fire off some video encoding or something... Was there something I could check for anyone? Otherwise, the 2GB chip from OWC appears to be happy here existing alongside one of the original stock 1GB chips...

The price seems to be dropping drastically.. already $220ish for a 2gb from OWC. Is there a big difference between 2gb and 3gb for non-Parallels use?

could you tell me if 3gb will run on a macbook c2d?

I think 2gb ram and 3gb ram have very little difference since the hard drive will always be the bottle neck until SSD.

I just bought the 2GB ram stick last week from OWC for $129. I got a pretty good deal selling my 1GB on craigslist ($60). I installed it yesterday and it's working great. The page ins/outs has dropped dramatically.
