MX100 512GB into a mid-2010 17" Macbook Pro.

Self-install. Reload complete image off Time Machine.

Everything's faster when it works. But most of the time the fan is burning up (it's no longer a "lap"top), and some programs have been acting very strangely - like Aperture. It often gets stuck importing or processing.

Any thoughts????

Are you on Mavericks? If so, open Activity monitor and select the CPU tab then sort by % so we can see what is chewing up CPU cycles and heating things up.

Post up a screenshot of the whole app window.

That's happened to me before and yes it's the cpu ramping up cycles for some unknown reason. A complete shutdown and reinstall of the ssd fixed it, but the primary reason was never revealed to me.

Every time you do a reinstall, regardless if you did it from back-up, OS X does some indexing.

This indexing can take up to 4 days and each time indexing is done, battery life will suffer and your Mac will run a little slower (and hotter due to background processing) than usual.

Has your computer finished indexing?
