As much as it sounds like I'm not an understanding citizen, I would not take an EFI update as a solution. Downclocking anything or making my fans run quicker or for more time, is unacceptable. I can't afford another system; I also can't afford not getting what I payed for.

At the very least, once it is officially confirmed (Again?) that the card has the faulty materials, a replacement card is in order (logic board swap w/ a non faulty card). :(

I'll have to second that.. I don't want to be stuck with a system that has a jacked up fan cooling a ticking time bomb, nor a system that has been downclocked just to delay the death of a crippled chip..

Man, MBP's and display issues... this is becoming chronic
I exchanged my MBP for a macbook because of those issues. I certainly hope the revisions will clear this problem up. The NVIDIA graphics issue has been around for almost a year, to my knowledge, and nothing's been done about it.

Apple has acknowledged that it exists, and they have an official statement that they're going to look into it, but that statement is 7 months old. Doesn't look like they managed to fix it yet.

I had the same problem, yesterday my mbp died. Go to apple service asap. I didn't managed, my warranty ended 8 day ago. Hope you are more lucky.

I had it like 3 or 4 times in last 4 months. After each time reseting mbp did the job and everything was back to normal. At that time I thought that it could be related to some memory leeks(osx bug) but now I think it was symptoms of what was coming.
