If you can live with the glare, then get that.
The you will see a more vibrant colors on the glossy.

On every internet forum I belong to, and I belong to a lot of them, there's always somebody that complains about the multiple threads on the same topic - and that same person will also throw up several links to previous threads just like you have. The fact of the matter is, everybody has a different personality and everybody will have a differing opinion based on their experiences and the perspective they're coming from. I just think it's funny as hell that there's an Ebinezer Scrooge on every single forum I've ever visited. :D

You missed the point completely. It's not about trying to restrict people from posting their opinions. It's about the futility of trying to make a decision on a topic like this, based on opinions posted in any forum, regardless of the number of threads. This is a subjective decision. The only opinion that counts is the buyer's opinion, since they are the one who will have to use their computer every day. There could be overwhelming recommendations to buy glossy, but if the buyer doesn't like glossy, it would be foolish to listen to anonymous posters on an internet forum. No one here knows which the OP will prefer, except the OP. The only way the OP can know which they prefer is to go to a store and look at both glossy and anti-glare.

I think it's funny as hell that no matter how many threads are posted on this topic, the same people post the same things, as if their opinion will have any effect on the OP's preferences.

You couldn't be more wrong. Personally, I love reading people's opinions on these kinds of issues. Maybe not for being persuaded, but for looking at the issue through different viewpoints. Someone else might have thought of something I didn't.

It makes a lot of sense to read about what others did, or rather why they did what they did.

There's nothing wrong with reading people's opinions. Making a buying decision based on them, rather than forming your own opinion by looking at both screens, is foolish.

I am just about to take the plunge and purchase a 15" MBP, but need some advice about the screen. I will deffo get the hi res but am not sure whether to go GLOSSY or ANTI GLARE. Went to my local Apple store today to see the different screens first hand. The first thing I noticed was how much reflection there was on the glossy screen (although the lighting in the store is very different from normal household lighting). the anti glare certainly did not have the same problem , but i could not help but notice the silver edging around the screen and felt this really ruined the beauty of the MBP. I intend to use the MBP indoors mainly with the odd foray out in the open and wont be doing anything other than normal web surfing i tunes and movie watching, so what is the best screen and why ?

I had the same problem. I wanted an Anti Glare screen with a black bezel. But to be honest, after owning my MBP for a while now, I think the Silver Bezel looks pretty amazing, it looks better than the standard black bezel. It matches the unibody perfectly :)

But to be honest, a MBP is a computer, a tool, not a piece of jewelry. I rather get more functionality and better specs than better looks. ( at the time I bought it, i found the silver bezel more ugly too, but I didn't care as long as the screen was better :p )

I bought the glossy at first because I liked the black bezel but I'm glad that I got it replaced for the antiglare. I couldn't deal with the ridiculous amount of glare on the glossy.

I got tired of my Glossy screen on my HP laptop.

I am not getting the same for MacBook Pro. I like matte. My first laptop Dell is matte screen and I still have it side by side my HP.

Matte screen = best for print, designs, battery life and good for eyes.

Battery life? Because you don't have to turn up the brightness?

I never thought of that...
