glossy has glare, but if your not outside or right next to a light you'll be fine with it

It's personal preference. I personally got matte and I am satisfied with it. I hate reflections, but I like the black bezel with the keyboard of the glossy one. And the colours seems a but more sharper on the glossy screen.
 
I've got the hi-res glossy and love it. I haven't had any real issues with glare, even in daylight. I don't notice the glare when I'm focussed on doing work on the MBP.
 
As someone who wants to get into video editing, I was undecided. The glossy screens are beautiful (watched the toy story 3 trailer on one in the apple store, it was epic to say the least). I hate glare, but its so worth it. When I want do a 'ghetto color test on my editing projects, I just turn done the brightness. Plus I saved $50, the black looks better and appeals to a wider market for resale value, and besides I can always get a screen glare protector...
