The box that it was shipped in or the white box? Mine had a small ding in the cardboard box.
 
They will let you swap out computers if there is something wrong with yours, but for something this ridiculous, you should call the Apple Store online first to see what they can do for you.
 
I spotted somewhere on the Apple site that if your package was damaged during transit, you were to contact Apple directly. Not sure what they can do for you but hey its worth a try!

How is a scratch on the aluminum outside ridiculous? I'm sorry if the topic title is confusing, but the MacBook Pro outside has a mark, not the box.
 
You never stated the laptop itself had a scratch. You only stated the "box". Rectify the original post or you will receive answers you may not like.

"mark on outside right out of box" When I read this I assumed he was talking about the laptop and not the box.
 
I ordered online, it came today with a mark on the aluminum. It's a minor mark, but should not be there regardless.

1. Can I return to a retail store?
2. Will they swap me a new one?
3. Do I need a genius bar reservation?
4. Do I have to bring the box, charger, etc or just the MBP?

you can't. If you order from online you have to mail it back.
or other way, if you buy from store, you can't mail it back. have to be return to the store.
 
I ran into the same problem awhile back and I had to ship the computer back. The reasoning was the online and retail stores are separate entities. Either way, it doesn't hurt to call up and ask.

Correct. I bought an Air and it came dented and the Apple retail store said ANYTHING I order online or over the phone from Apple must be returned or exchanged from their customer service line defective or not. They will not entertain it at the retail store.
