Same thing for me last year. I bought a macbook pro at a apple store and I asked the guy there lucky as I am the new one will be out next week. He told me that the new version is supose to be there only in about 3-4 months. 3 days later the new one was out. I returned to the apple store. They refused to exchange it since the box was open and I had to pay 15 % for re-stocking. They told me to call the manage of the store to have more informations what I did. He refounded me 100$ on it. Best thing he was able to do. 100$ is better then nothing. I was happy with that. It just like this forum know more then the guys at apple store hehe :p

Anyone know if the stores have 17" i7 in stock? I'm hoping I can pick one up locally but my Apple Stores are still unboxing their shipment and don't know what they have in stock yet.

If need be I guess I'll order the 17" i7 as a CTO but I'd love to be able to pick it up today. Then again, after waiting for 6 months I guess a couple more days to have them ship it won't be too bad.

After seeing the C2D vs i7 benchmarks from Gizmodo, I'm thinkin a 15" i7 with hi-res screen is the ticket. The question is if the stores will actually have this config. I'll keep an eye on this thread and probably visit one of the Apple stores after work.

My local store in Denver only got the base 13" in and doesn't know when they will be selling them or getting the rest of the lineup. I just wanted to see the antiglare high-res screen in action.

I was just going to ask if anyone had seen 13"s in the stores yet. This is the first I've heard of them, I think.

I'll hopefully take a trip tomorrow and get one :)

Montgomery Mall, Maryland had stock as of lunch time.

Did not have anti-glare and I did not inquire further.

Indianapolis, IN has the 15's, but no 13". Won't be picking one up tonight I guess.

I ordered a 15" i7 with the high rez glossy screen upgrade and picked the 256gb SSD over the standard HD. My order said it would ship in 2-4 days. I figured it was quite unlikely that SSD machines would be in the local Apple store...though I didn't bother to even inquire.

Here's to hoping it arrives by Friday!

They didn't have the high resolution 15" models nor do they have the 17" i7 models at my local Apple Store.

So I ordered online.

I actually went to the indianapolis location. I called on the phone first and they told me they had all of them including the 15" hi-res anti glare in the back.. when I got there to buy one. they said they had none of the anti glare 15" models and to come back in about 48 hours.. I was/am thoroughly disappointed. They also said they would be on display within the next 48 hours.. just so you know

Apple store Miami Beach

Apple store in Miami Beach (Lincoln Rd.) has everything in stock! Just picked up my very first Macbook Pro today!

Only the sales girl tried selling me the old model at first! If I hadn't checked the box I would've gone home with the old model .

The Apple Stores in Orlando have the base model 13" only, not the 2.66 Ghz. It seems that is the trend from what I've seen, stocking the base 13" only.

Now that I have done a bunch of research it seems the i5 would be the better value for me. I'm wanting a 15" with the hi-res screen. Seems more people are saying the hi-res is not available in the retail stores.

just called apple and confirmed that hi-res is online only.

they have hi-res 15" at my store.. just not the anti glare hi-res for some reason. kinda lameeeeee

so I would call the apple store near you to confirm this.

edit: actually don't call because they will probably give you wrong information lol.. seems to be happening with this update for some reason.. no one at apple knows what the hell is going on. all the employees seem to be hungover from the ipad mess

The same thing happened to me. I called the Burlington MA store at 3:00 pm and asked about inventory. I was told all were there including the base 15" which I wanted. I drove 1 hour to the store, and was originally told by the greeter that there were no new ones in the store. That's strange, I said, I called an hour ago and was told they were here. The greeter told me to hold on, he went to the back, asked someone, came back and said, yup we have 13" in stock. Only 13"? Yup. I was told there are 15" here too. Nope, we didn't get any 15" or 17". I asked to talk to a manager and he told me that the manager had the day off. I lost it! Let me talk to someone else then, maybe the guy who answers the phone. I complained and complained and complained, got no where and was told to try tomorrow. It took me 1 1/2 hours to get home in eastern mass. traffic. Not only did I wait 5 months waiting for this thing, I wasted 3 hours of a perfect, sunny spring day. Grrr.

I also called the Natick, MA store (the next closest store) and I was told that there weren't any in stock.

Apple has a serious communication problem, at all levels.

Are Apple stores holding back their 15" and 17" in order to perform a software upgrade? God I hope not.

Meanwhile I ordered one at the online store and am paying $27 for overnight delivery -- something I should have done from the beginning. For as hard it is to get a job in an apple store, you'd think the people working there would have some brains.

I visited the Apple store in Durham, NC and htey had nothing and were expecting them in on Thursday. I then mentioned something about SSD and he instantly said you will have to order that one on line. So, it is ordered and I hope to have my first MBP by the weekend.....not to mention my first Apple machine since the Apple II....man I hate windows
