Saving Grace - Jobs' grace that is.

Yes, very likely.

Expectations for this product were rising to ridiculous heights, and this controlled leak allowed a reset of those expectations to something more reasonable.

You are right. McGraw was just saving Jobs' ass. It would be embarrassing, if whilst informing the audience about the OS of the device, he would get a big boo.

I bet they are not but do maintain an web app where there is no inhouse support anymore and that thingy is up and running (dont touch it, you get killed if you break it) and they are no developers, so of course they are having a hard time trying to change its presentation (layer).

Please tell me i am wrong :)

Oh I see. You have one of those situations (if you look at the app the wrong way, it stops working). What's even worse is that it only works on IE6 and IT are the ones that support it. Well, IT is to blame on this one.

SJ will have his liver for this.

Although he may not want it since CEOs tend to drink a fair bit, as evidenced by this drunken interview.

Well, like all good (read: stupid) big companies we contract out our IT work so I think they have different sections to their operations. They have people who do hardware, people who do support and people who do web design. 1) We're getting reamed for our hardware costs (my POS dell tower is leased for a per year price of like 15k) 2) The are contractors so they only work as hard as it takes to keep the contract because if they work too hard and do too good of a job they'll think they don't need as many people, woo...

I see it as possible.

Where some people thought this would be a PDA with steroids were correct over those who thought it would be a full fledged Mac OS X running laptop with a touchscreen and Core 2 Duo Intel processor.

Well, anyway, I just heard it's called iPad from Google news. Let's see if that's true later on.

I was hoping for the laptop over the PDA theory but I know there will be some who like iPad the way some loved Newton or the Cube. Apple has a little of something for everybody so that has to be the bright side of what was an otherwise disappointing morning.

Looks like Macmillan is a McGraw-Hill company-- so they didn't get completely excised...

Or maybe they were... Who knew Macmillan is the Smith of the publishing world.
Not a "controlled leak"....a confirmed Homer.
Yeah, despite the strong opinions voiced here, the "controlled leak" argument smacked of one too many layers of conspiracy. Book guy was stunned to find himself in the media spotlight and lost control of himself. I don't expect anyone named McGraw is going to get fired by McGraw-Hill, but it's going to be an uncomfortable Thanksgiving dinner this year...

I think SJ is gathering a hit squad to go after the man. ;)

Haha just had to quote this one
They got a little bit more than that :p
Yes yes I know you didn't know

Hey McGraw, chay halo to my friend! :)
