All Things Digital reports that Apple has scheduled a media event for March 2nd where the company is expected to introduce the next-generation iPad.
To those who intensely cares about this kind of stuff - which would be pretty much everyone in the tech ecosystem - Apple will hold its much-anticipated event on March 2, where the tech giant seems poised to unveil a new version of its hugely successful iPad.

As in, iPad 2! Or, as BoomTown is now officially nicknaming it: iPad Too!
According to the report's sources, the scheduled date is firm, and the event will take place in San Francisco. Apple has generally held its San Francisco media events at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
It's not clear when Apple will begin sending out its famous invites for gathering, but I am guessing soon, in order to get the Apple faithful to the proper level of froth.
Late yesterday, a rumor surfaced claiming that the second-generation iPad would not launch until June, but multiple sources have refuted that claim today.

Yay! Now lets start the rumors for iPad 4...since we already did iPad 3.

I've heard it will be a Triple Core with an anti-aliased half retina resolution.

Finally. So the rumors for iPad 3 can start, like we all want! :)

But seriously, we all know what's coming right? Front-facing camera, better sound system, and probably an SD slot. Also a version with Verizon 3G built into it. I'm sure there'll be something nobody expects, and if it's good enough, maybe I'll end up buying one. Not planning on it as of today though. :apple:

Does anybody think that the wifi and 3g versions will be the same?

Finally, the long and arduous iPad 2 rumor chapter can be put to rest.

Wonder if they will demo iOS 5 or will stay with the stale IOS 4 ?

News Corp has a pretty good track record when it comes to Apple info, so mark your calendars gentlemen.

I've heard that we are finally going to get a G5 in the iPad 3. After all these years its finally going to happen. ;)

Does anybody think that the wifi and 3g versions will be the same?

I really do. If they are putting the same 3G Data chip in the Verizon iPhone, iPhone 5 and iPad 2, I would hope that they could get the costs down enough to just offer 3G in every model.

Or include 3G chips in the higher capacity models and the low capacity model would be wifi only? 6 SKUS is just too many.

Doesn't make sense to me...release new Macbooks this Thursday which are supposedly a redesign, then next Wednesday a media event only for the IPad? Maybe the 24th is wrong??

Man, I really want to buy a 2nd generation iPad, but I really should wait to see what happens with this subscription stuff.

I think this will happen eventually, but not yet. I expect the price premium to drop to $100, though.

interesting idea. AAPL is all about price discrimination. Not a bad idea.
