I knew it!!!

To drive home how advanced the iPad2 is, it will be presented by none other than Buzz Lightyear.

Agree with majority of posters. Lets put off gratification of new MBP's for another 6 days in the hopes that 3/2/11 will bring major revisions.

The most important question: will the wife let me get a new MBP and iPad2 on the same receipt? I NEED them both ;)

does anyone else think that we are all wrong about thursday being the release date for the macbook pros, and it would seem more likely that they will be unveiled on march 2nd along with the ipad 2 because why would they have two releases one week after another?

I really do. If they are putting the same 3G Data chip in the Verizon iPhone, iPhone 5 and iPad 2, I would hope that they could get the costs down enough to just offer 3G in every model.

Or include 3G chips in the higher capacity models and the low capacity model would be wifi only? 6 SKUS is just too many.
I hope not. With the new Wi-Fi hot spot on the iPhone I am now more incline to do the $20 Tethering option then get a dedicated 3g model and pay for 3g.

This way with ATT I will have 4gb of data to use between iPad and iPhone instead of just 2gb on iPhone and 2gb on iPad. Plus you will save $5.

I just hope the wi-fi only model has the GPS chip then this is a no brainer to just get the wi-fi only with 64 or 128gb

I want a new MBP pronto! Does this mean that MBP wont get light peak or any other major overhaul, or does it mean they will release MBPs and iPads simultaneously. the former wouldnt make sense from a business standpoint as they dont want consumers trying to decide between getting one or the other and they dont want media attention split [it would be focused primarily on the iPad and the MBP would go under the radar].

My credit card is ready in hand!!

If it's March 2nd, then expect an official announcement tomorrow! ;)

The day before the release of the xoom ;) That sure would redirect the tablet attention.

Doesn't make sense to me...release new Macbooks this Thursday which are supposedly a redesign, then next Wednesday a media event only for the IPad? Maybe the 24th is wrong??

True. If MBP are released on the 24th, we will have a minor speed update and nothing more (assuming the March 8th date is accurate). Even if there are relatively minor redesign changes like lightpeak, bigger trackpad, or SSD then I'm pretty sure apple could hold off for 6 days to announce it at a media event. Even if the MBP only took the stage for 5 minutes.

Does anyone think there might be some kind of price shift? Like dropping the 16gb and pricing the 32gb like the 16gb and maybe introduce a 64gb version? Here's to hoping anyway. I'd like to get the 32 at a cheaper price.

how to order?

Lately, I've been content to let the dust settle, and simple walk into an apple store months after debut and buy product...

But I've been waiting for an ipod 2, so what;s the process if you want one first week or so?

Do you expect on-line ordering to be offered, perhaps with a delayed ship date as the que is filled? Or are the really new things only available initially to those who wait in-line at a store?

LOL that delay rumor REALLY hurt.

Someone was pressuring Apple to release some news. So they leak this in response.

I agree, but last time I checked, there was already a 64 gb version!;)

Apparently Apple intelligence security has been very tight lately. This new rumor seems to have come from outside Apple, most likely from someone at the event location.
Considering that we had several rumor hits and misses in the passed few months, it's great that now finally something seems solid enough to create a new breed of rumors.

Can't wait, it's only 8 days away. Hopefully there will be live video broadcast. :D

Oh my God, finally, bring it on!

Lots of the recent releases have been available for pre-order. See: iPhone4 for existing iPhone owners, last MBP refresh.

It all depends on how much supply they have at launch and what they perceive the demmand to be. My guess (production rumors aside) is that they're going to have online preorders available. They will tell us at the announcement unless iPad2 is a ...one more thing mention at a MBP event.

the former DOES make sense, because I'm quite sure that they'll only announce the iPad2. I don't think that it'll be availible right away like the MBPs... so each product gets its attention one after another ;)

So let me get this straight:

An iPad 2 with front and rear facing cameras, a new port (light-peak), and 3G/4G at higher price points ($599 to start, the $499 will be the "old" one) and this is exciting?

The last time Steve Jobs was on medical leave, Phil Schiller did the honors for the 17 inch MacBook Pro in January 2009. I think they will have someone else do it, rather then Steve Jobs appearance become more of a story than the iPad 2 is.

I'll bet they will have that hillbilly CEO do it.

I'd be more surprised if Steve didnt do it. He has been seen on campus, is actively working on these projects and was at dinner with Da Prez...

Schiller is so dry. Maybe someone else can do it. Schiller just isnt the guy in my opinion though.

Delay MBP???

If there's going to be an event next week... doesn't seem logical they would delay the announcement of the new MBP's until then too????

I'll have to check the magic 8-ball and see. :p
