Apple has a flat rate repair at 350 for any 3 items that need replacing.

I just had the logic board and screen replaced on my mbp.

It cost me 150 because my machine was 3 months out of warranty and they felt sorry for me.

That does not cover liquid damage.

I am an ex-Genius and now a tech at an AASP. I know what I am talking about.

Another "I spilled something on my Macbook" post. Here's a thought, dont use your MB near liquids.

Would it not be easier to take it to apple and get an estimate than post here asking for opinions.

Claim on your house insurance?!

This is a good route you could go after, homeowners insurance covers most of these types of accidents.

If you purchased it with a credit card, you may have coverage. My American Express routinely covers damage, loss and accidents for 90 days after purchase. I hope your card might cover this unfortunate event. Move fast, however-- they need substantiation that events occurred within the covered period days. Best to initiate the claim within it.

I have used American Express accident insurance claims before, to replace a screen on my MBP. This was a painless process, however there are limits to the coverage, I believe like $1000 or something like that..

Amazing

Hey guys, I'm back with an update! I went to the apple store today for a genius bar appointment to get a quote on my computer and after telling the rep what had happened, he charged me nothing for replacement of everything.... I was so shocked that he would do that for me and idk how many other people this would happen to, but I guess my bad luck changed to good luck!

That was my experience last month with my 2010 MacBook Air. Otherwise, it would have been $755 to replace the logic board. Note that there are water sensors in several locations inside the case. When I got the repair summary, it noted everywhere a sensor was triggered. Apple wound up replacing the logic board, keyboard, battery, and some internal cables.

I'm looking into getting a personal articles policy from my renter's insurance policy to cover my 2011. Otherwise, I may look into the Squaretrade warranties.

Good on Apple to ensure we retain another cult member! :D

On a more serious note, it's pretty clear that Apple often understands what customer service can result in. After an experience like this is the customer likely to buy from another brand? I certainly would stick to Apple.
