I can't help but think about my favorite movie: BIG FISH.... where at the end, all the of great moments and memories of a man's life all come together to celebrate and remember him.

Yo Yo Ma & Bono? Two great artists who's music Steve used on several occasions to present the ipod/iphone.

May he rest in peace and continue to inspire us, our children and future.

A memorial for the rest of us

I know I've posted before and I apologize for the repetition but I want to get the word out.

I want to let you all know that I'm trying to organize an Honoring Steve event at BJ's Brewhouse and Pizza Bar in Cupertino Ca. It's in the parking lot to Apple HQ.
The basic idea is we all get together and honor the life of Steve with drinks and Apple talk (not the old networking protocol. HA!) .
I'm not expecting black suites or quite somber discussions on life. I want laugher, gadget and gizmo chat, conversation of great apple moments, and overall raising the geek level in Silicon Valley (that in itself is a tall order)

It's going to be on October 19th from 11am-Midnight.

https://www.facebook.com/HonoringSteve

Please join if you can, I would like for this to be something noteworthy.
Let's create something great.

wheres tribute from macrumors?
This does not deserve the negative comments.

And I see the point. But even MacRumors can have a tribute to Jobs if they want to. But I am glad they didn't. Simply because it's well known Jobs best achievement was not any product but it was Apple itself. And walking around and that shiny bitten Apple on your products shining in the sun or in your living room is the best tribute you could ever have.

People know the  = Jobs. So the more 's out there would make Jobs proud.

Too many celebrities want the perks of being famous without the burden. When you put yourself in the public eye, you no longer have the right to complain about a lack of privacy. People wanting such an event to be made public are only doing what they've been trained to do. You can't blame them alone. Celebrities have to take the good with the bad.

I aree that public figures give up privacy. (I'm not sure they give up the right to privacy, but that is another issue).

However, I would argue that that loss of privacy does not extend to their family or to events like funerals and memorials.

Excusing insensitive behavior or demands by the public by asserting that "they are only doing what they are trained to do" and "you can't blame them" removes all individual responsibility because "they are trained....". So I am not responsible for my behavior because as part of the public who was "trained" I cannot control myself or make reasoned choices and decisions?

I do agree that "celebrities have to take the good with the bad". But I would disagree that that extends to their families and private events concerning the families.

About as fictitious as your comment.

Lol. The one that hit Newton was made up as a way to introduce the subject of gravity to primary school students.

The one Eve bit... that's a bit more controversial, but supposing it was real, how was it great? It got people kicked out of the garden of Eden. I'd say it's a pretty terrible Apple.

You'd be better off including New York (the Big Apple)

Foremost, IMO, Steve was a buddhist.

The report notes that music for the service was provided by cellist Yo Yo Ma, folk singer Joan Baez, and U2 singer Bono, who read lyrics from an iPad.

My son-in-law and granddaughter (a budding cellist) attended a Boston Symphony Orchestra concert at Symphony Hall in Boston, featuring Yo Yo Ma, Saturday night. Yo Yo Ma must have gotten on a plane immediately after the concert in order to be in California for the memorial.

Just near the Bridgeport Village, Oregon Apple store. They had a curtain up while they were showing the tribute to the employees. However they put the closed sign on the wrong side of the curtain. Someone called 911 and two police cars and the shopping center security guards converged on the store. This just happened less than a half hour ago.
