Experts are expecting a price drop. Remember when Apple raised its iPad Pro pricing to "compensate" for memory shortages? Does this mean the iPhone 2018 models and iPads will feature stronger specs and won't see a ludicrous pricing jump?

Not quite. Flash prices are actually expected to go up. Why? DDR4 shortages. You need the same lines that make NAND, to make DDR4 modules. DDR4 has skyrocketked way up there.

So iPad Pro prices will not decrease, rather they will stabilize where they are? Or expect a price jump because of a rumored Face ID iPad Pro?

Any component shortage tends to affect any device.

Well, Apple already changed their pricing to compensate for the iPad Pro. So it is reasonable to expect another price hike?

I can't speak to Apple's decision because Apple isn't generally affected by immediate component price hikes. They contract their components in bulk prices and way in advance.

They should have it contractual rates. However, it is easy to raise prices after the fact with an industry wide shortage. Anyways, the iPad Pro 2017 is about to be a year old later this year, so maybe we can see an iPad Pro w/ FaceID w/ a price hike because of the newer tech, not just NAND and flash memory shortages alone?

Like I said, it is tough to know. Why can infer that once we have an iPad Pro 2 device broken down by iFixIt. However, right now? Not possible to know with certainty.

Apple doesn't sell products based on the cost of components, they sell them based on how much value they bring to people (i.e. how much they are willing to pay). This is a big misconception by tech people in general. No products are sold by "cost to make + some percentage for profit", they are sold only by how much people are willing to pay for them. If that price is lower than the cost, then they don't sell the product.

The memory cost will not be affecting iPad prices much. ALL the makers charge way too much for memory upgrades. It has always been that way!

You clearly haven't been following the news then. There is a massive price hike of DDR4 memory de to shortages. The chip lines that make NAND and DDR memory are the same.

Hence companies will try to make more DDR4 than NAND to make a better profit. Hence, that will drive prices of NAND up as you have less supply.

Non-Current iPhones are now at a high performance level. Now that I know that my perceived performance drops have been triggered by battery aging, I'll just buy the old one and keep the battery current. I got my 6s 128 for $60 on term.

but I am “clearly” stating that memory is still only a small part of the cost of the phone.
