I have a wrist that is around 175mm, and I have realized that is much better for the 42mm. Apple isn't stupid, I have always "felt" like my wrist was smaller, but its pretty average. I feel like the 42mm was made for the "average" male and the 38mm for the "average" female. Unfortunately for me I ordered the 38mm and got the first ship date and later ordered the 42mm for June. I'm in a pretty crappy position, I want it quickly, but I really want the 42mm.

The 42mm fit perfectly on my try on, where the 38mm felt small. However, I could probably deal with it to be honest.

I like the 38 mm and that's what I ordered. I don't know, the 42 mm seems to leave a lot of gap between the watch and the wrist.

i originally thought the 42mm would be too big as I think i have small wrist. I did the cutouts and was unsure. I found a cutout that was just the watch without the bands and the 38mm fit over my old watch which i felt was too small for my adult wrist. (i got the watch when I was a teenager.)

I'm just glad i decided to pre-order the watch first then if I didn't like it return it, after my try on at apple.

42mm for real men.

Save the 38mm for ladies and kids.

An indication is the Edition. 38mm costs more than 42mm. Women's assesories cost more than men's.

or maybe because the gold buckles on the 38mm editions have more gold than than the classic buckles? being a "male" or "female" watch has nothing to do with pricing.

With 150mm circumfence and 50mm with i am still undecided even after two tryons.
Would like the 42mm because of screen size.
Still not Sure :(

I definitely think the 38 looks better. I am in a similar position; I would prefer the larger one for functionality, but I think the smaller fits better on my slender wrists.

My wrist size is more or less same as yours. After the try on section, I can confirm that 42mm works / looks better for me. My wife is a fashion designer, she had the same conclusion as well.

Why stop at 42mm? Let's go to 60mm. Next year we will take it up a notch.

Now your whistling dixie, my current watch is 50mm top to bottom and still manages to look small on my wrist at times (75mm width.)

I kid of course (well mostly, I wouldn't say no to a 50mm  Watch :D) I'll be perfectly happy with my 42 when it arrives :)

These are the type of guys that say "Straight hard liquor (40%) are for men. Mixed drinks are for women." I can understand the stereotype of "rough and tough = men, nice and soft = women".

Let them be in their own world, for the rest of us, we're moving on. They are too anchored in their beliefs to realize it. When their beliefs are challenged, they feel insecure and become unstable.

There's no point in trying to change their ideas about it. They'll get more defensive about it, resulting in cognitive dissonance.

I think the split between 38 and 42 will be about 35/65 for the general population, 50/50 for the fashion conscious, and 25/75 for the techie/macrumors crowd.

I have a 165mm wrist size although I haven't measured my wrist width. That said I preordered a 42mm and then the same day went into the Apple Store and tried both sizes on. I currently own and wear an original Pebble. Having tried on both sizes and comparing them to my Pebble I came to the conclusion I made the right choice for me. Having worn the Pebble for almost two years and considering that itsef is fairly big and chunky I'm comfortable enough in wearing the 42mm :apple:Watch.

I like many on here pre-ordered the 38mm as I have small wrists... I looked on the ap, compared sizes and even made a cut out square in the size of both and was convinced 42mm would be too big...went into the apple store after launch to try one on and be sure Id made the right decision and nope the 38mm looked way too small and the 42mm while was larger wasn't as big as I thought it was. I then had to cancel my preorder and reorder a larger one so my shipping is now june :( Would have been handy for try ons prior to launch really

Originally ordered 38mm, but then cancelled and decided to go with the 42mm. I now have to wait till June, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

I ordered 38 on the 10th and a few days later went into the store and tried on 42. Needless to say now I will not be getting my watch until June... :(

100% 38mm after my try on. wrist are 165mm and about 50mm on top. I ordered both, so cancelled the 42mm. I probably should have just let them deliver and hooked someone up with the 42mm at cost.

I got the 38, only because I thought it looked better on me. This is really more about personal style than wrist sizes. I see women with tiny little wrists wearing massive watches (much bigger than 42) and vice-versa. My friend's wife just got the 42, and her wrists are definitely smaller than mine. The 42 looks good on her, the 38 looks good on me.

After all, it's not the size of your watch, it's how you wear it. ;)
