So funny seeing all the 38mm guys who can't bare the thought of re-ordering the 42mm and waiting months justifying their original choice. I wonder how much of a bitter pill it will be to swallow a few months down the line when people keep asking why they are wearing the girls version ;)

I ordered 38mm and wI'll be rocking it with pride. U mad bro?

lol. I guess the 38mm guys will be used to girls saying 'isn't it small'

It's so annoying to keep hearing guys say. Only woman should wear a 38mm. Some guys have small wrists like woman and it's not even that small. It's not like it's super small like most woman's watches.

I don't think it's a woman's watch per say but I do think many of the photos I've seen of the 38mm and the 42mm are very misleading. The general consensus among people who haven't seen the watch in person has been, "the 38 looks less geeky/more manageable, and the 42 is massive".

I think after seeing the watch in person many people are surprised that the 42mm isn't really the monstrosity they thought it was going to be. On the contrary, I felt the 38mm was was smaller than expecting, especially in terms of the bands width.

That being said, they aren't feminine at all but I do strongly recommend men with wrist in the 160mm+ range to take a look in person. I could see a lot of guys who order the 38mm with wrists pushing 170mm+ being shocked come launch day

Shouldn't width be more important than circumference.

Shouldn't you not be a wiseguy since you know the point I was trying to make?

Wrist circumference is important if you want to take the watch as a whole into account. Wrist width takes one viewing angle into consideration, and is near impossible to measure accurately since wrists aren't flat surfaces with definitive endings. Anytime I purchase a watch they always measure circumference, never width.

I wasn't trying to be a wise guy, but ok.

It's all taste. From my perspective, the 42mm didn't look as big as I expected it to on my wrist, but in my opinion it's still large and a bit on the geeky side. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The 38mm just looks much more like a "normal" watch to me, and that's what I'm personally going for. If you are used to bigger watches the 38mm will seem small to you. There has been watch size inflation over the last several years (for guys anyway) - not because of smart watches, but the sport utility ones that can survive 30m in water, which is a good thing because if you go swimming with one it'll act just like a boat anchor.

I kid, I kid.

So let's give each other credit that we might actually know what we want. For what it's worth, I tried on both 38mm and 42mm at the try on. The 38mm had the small band on, the 42mm the large. For the large, I was on the 2nd smallest hole in the strap. For the small, I had to use the 2nd largest setting. Satisfying symmetry aside, it seems pretty clear I could go either way.

I'll chime in with my experience...

I am a male with what I think are probably very average sized wrists (maybe even a tad on the smaller size). I pre-ordered the 42mm sight unseen. I then went to the Apple store to check them out in person and still came away thinking the 42mm is the right choice.

But, of course, now this thread has me re-considering. lol Ugh. The power of the interwebz.

Anyway, here are a few pics I took of the 42mm on my wrist for others to get a feel.

So I had this question in regards to the size of the screen.

I went in to try it on yesterday and the 38 mm is more than sufficient. The 42 mm, to me, wasn't that big of a jump and it was a little large for my wrist anyway.

I think my wife and I will be more than happy with the 38 mm size.

which one do you think it fits me? I have 170mm wrist

The first two is the 42mm and the others is the 38mm.

38mm. For me, 42mm looks too much like a computer on the wrist. 38mm looks more like a watch.

sooo those of you who say a man wearing the 38mm are wearing the female version are those that say a male shouldnt drive a volkswagen cabrio lol:D

Personal Preference

On the watch size front. If you want to look like your wearing a watch and not a techie piece. That is my only reason for swapping to a 38. I am very hard on my watches.

Some guys are just very insecure in their masculinity. I went with the 38mm because I think it looks better / less tech geeky on my 180mm wrists, I also sometimes wear pink shirts!

I have wrist circumference of 7.28". After trying both sizes on I felt like either would work but the 1.49" watch felt more comfortable. Plus I will plan to hand this down to my wife one day and she has much smaller wrists then mine.
