Men - Do you carry an 'Everyday Bag'? If so ...

I usually carry a Day Pack with me where ever I go. I tend to keep alot of my portable computer stuff in it; mostly, jump drives, a portable usb hd, my mighty mouse, and my MBP.

This is what I carry:

When I need to carry something like my laptop or document I'ld carry a bag. Back pack when I can.
Every other day my backpocket is more than enough.

When you simply can't leave home without it, I prefer a shopping cart.

Easier on the back.

Cool, another Mountainsmith user. I think the Relay I have is the last large bag they every made. If they'd make one that would fit a modern MBP, I'd be all over that.

I have a LOT of bags. I do use them frequently, so I guess it's not a bad thing.

My most frequently used bag is a very lightweight canvas messenger-style bag, which is essentially a shapeless "sack" for me to throw my lunch, umbrella, and other things into. I want to replace it (or get another one) that offers more protection for my 11" MBA. I like how shapeless it is because you can just shove stuff into it, and it's very lightweight. However, I'm afraid of breaking my laptop one day. My LA Robe sleeve offers amazing protection though, so I've been lucky. :)

My other "favourite" bag is my Osprey Raptor 14 litre cycling backpack. It's a nice looking bag, very well designed for cyclists, and is very convenient because the section of the bag that holds the 3 litre water pouch is the perfect size for my 11" MacBook Air. :D

I also have a Manhattan Portage bike messenger bag (with reflectors!), a roll-up T-Level backpack, and several small bags that are only big enough to carry my keys. They're like bum-bags/fanny-packs, but I wear them on my back like a messenger. They're somewhat popular in some places in Asia (e.g. Japan). They're useful when all you want to need is something to hold a few small items while you're in the city, on a bike, or out with friends.

Yes, I like Mountiansmith's bag because they are made from a lot of recycled materials, and because they are very rugged. I've have owned my Day pack, since college.

The latest weekender bag that I have been using is the Mountain Hardwear Splitter Backpack, it works really well for anything you might want to carry.

Got an Incase compact backpack today for my late 2011 13" mbp that was given to me as a gift this last sunday on the 26 :) very happy bout it.

Did any of you guys carry smaller shoulder bags like a satchel to hold an iPad or a MacBook Air and a bunch of accessories? if so what kind?

It's still hard to find something functional, manly looking and not too big so it's convenient to use every day.

Seen anything new out there? The UK Apple Store has some interesting looking smaller shoulder bags for men that we don't see in the Apple stores over here but I guess carrying a purse like bag is more popular there than it is in North America.

Tote bag in the summer when I don't have many pockets available and have to carry a jacket in case of rain, plus sunglasses, wallet, maybe a book...
Backpack (DaKine) during the week cause I bike to work.

I carry a manbag/murse/satchel from H&M when I go downtown Chicago. That's about it. I've had it for three years now.

Do you know what model that is? Looks like the perfect size for an iPad or 11" MBA.
It did't have a specific model name. H&M is really generic with their stuff. It's a couple inches wider than a 13" macbook pro. So my old white MacBook fits perfectly.

Try looking HERE for something similar.

I'd strongly recommend this bag. Build quality is by far the best of any bag I've ever owned. Stick with the STM brand if you can.

Generic black JanSport daypack. I've tried a bunch of others over the years, ended up returning them all.

This is essentially the same backpack I used in high school/college.

They're better now: the back and straps are padded, there are more pockets and they are more useful (like the mesh pocket for water bottles). Even things like the zippers will converge at one point so I can use a small padlock to lock almost everything up.

That's what I take to work and travel with. If I'm just going out, I don't need it. Keys, wallet, cellphone.

Today's smartphones make lightweight traveling easier. I don't need to carry around the following: camera (plus extra rolls of film), notepad, maps, train schedule, pen, tourist guidebook, GPS, music player,

If you carry around a notebook computer, I highly suggest getting a neoprene sleeve and not getting a notebook backpack with a dedicated padded pocket. The standalone sleeve is more versatile, as well as the backpack (for times when you aren't hauling a computer).

My everyday bag is a Fossil Estate Messenger, waxed canvas with leather. The laptop compartment is too small to fit my 17" MBP, but fits in the main compartment fine. Eventually I'll replace that with a 15" rMBP. I love that its a soft but rugged bag. The more it get worn, the better it looks!

I'll use the same bag with a small Timbuk2 camera insert when I go out shooting with Sony NEX system or just my Nikon DSLR and a lens or 2. Great set-up for street photography.

If I have to drag along more cameras, lenses & MBP, I have a larger Timbuk2 Snoop Camera Messenger. And if I need yet more equipment for a location shoot, I have Pelican hard cases.

Good looking Fossil Bag ... Timbuk2 and Tom Bihn have some newer (manly) looking bags in smaller sizes.

I carry my Jansport backpack everyday, usually has my macbook and work stuff in it. But I just purchased a STM Hood Backpack over the weekend so that will be my daily bag for my work items and Macbook for now on.

Lousy picture...beautiful bag...

The design is based on an 1860's Cavalry Saddlle Bag.
